of the leaves which are drinking water of rain. He hears sweet voices of rain falling. He feels a joyful
musicality when the drops of water fall on the green leaves. He says that the poor man sitting under the tree

that he cannot enjoy the rain as well as the sweet and lovely songs of drop falling on the green and
fresh leaves.

letters and cheques. It also brings gifts for the people from all around. It brings letters for the rich and the
poor, the shop keepers and the other people. It brings all type of letters. It runs swiftly and steadily.

11

4-Where are you going?

The poem is written in a dialogue form. Two imaginary persons personified as Reader and Rider talk to each
other. The Rider is a bold, courageous and ambitious person. He has high volition to step forward crossing
all types of obstacles in his way. The Reader tells him that the valley beyond is full of hardships and
sufferings. Actually he is discouraging him from going beyond. And man should not lose heart to
see horror and fear in the way. He has to move with profound struggle and unshakable courage and
confidence.
5-In the Street of Fruit Stalls
This is indeed a symbolic poem. It utters the fact that the worlds peace and tranquility is threatened with
war, misery, poverty and exploitation. Despite all these crushing factors, mans affection for happiness and
joy is still alive. The little kids enjoy the sweet shower of juice and forget all miseries around them. The poet
has very beautifully used the words like a dark dew, Cannon balls, dark children, The dark street
and a coin to spend. These all words indicate the miseries and suffering prevailing in the world.
6-Sindhi Women
This is actually a tribute to work. The poem tells a fact that work keeps man strong, healthy and vigilant.
The person who does not work soon becomes unhealthy, lazy and indolent. This poem gives a very realistic
pictures of the slum of Karachi in a few words. The poet admires and appreciates the working woman who
has practically turned her work into art. The woman walks softly with the delicacy and rhythm of a
dancers feet.
7-Times
This poem is written about the undeniable significance of times in human life. The poet wants to expose that
everything happens at a specific time. Everything revolves around time. Nothing happens after or before
specific time. The poet believes that a man is of course, a slave of time. His days and nights and months and
years are captured in the clutches of time. One cannot be liberated from unbreakable net of time. This is the
basic and sole message for what the poet has written this poem.
8-Ozymandia
The main idea behind this is that pride hath a fall. The poet utters that success and achievement make a
man proud. He goes at that height where he thinks that he has toppled the world. He thinks that his all
successes and achievements are only the result of his own power and knowledge. He becomes proud and
begins to dwell in the circle of vanity and self-praise.
9-The Feed
This poem The Feed is written to throw light on the love of mother which is doubtless and undeniable.
Mother may be human, bird mammal or insects, but it has only one name: mother. In this poem we find a
mother feeding her ten young ones, one by one, and grain by grain. She never feels tiresome. She feels
happy to feed her children. A loving sparrow mother joins beak by beak as she feeds the time ones. The little
sparrows also keep on looking at their mother.
10-The Hollow Men
Poet believes that modern man does not have natural and pure qualities. In this age of machine he is just an
artificial, fake, baseless and hollow figure. A modern man has been deprived of critical and reformative
thoughts. He speaks but without real message. The life of modern man has been deprived of enthusiasm and
real zest. Their life is lack of beauty and color. He has been deprived of his glory and self-respect. He is too
cold and frozen. He is soulless and has a dead conscience. He seems to be walking soul but in fact, he is not
alive in the real sense. He is a stuffed man.
11-Leisure
In this Poem Leisure, the Poet W. H. Davies exposes the tragic condition of modern man. He has no time
to pass some moments in the cradle of nature. If we have no free time to enjoy the nature, we are unlucky.
The poet urges the modern man that material pursuits have not brought pleasures for them.
12-Rubaiyat
In this poem Rubaiyat, Iqbal has addressed the Muslims. He is of the view that the man in the modern
era lacks faith, Modern people are selfish and they are running after worldly things. They have spoiled their
religious, cultural and social values. They are completely destroyed and drowned in the river of ignorance
and disbelief. Faith is a basic thing which keeps the men on the right path. A faithless and dispersing person,
is actually a slave of temptations and worldly gains. The poet is of the view that we need to have the faith
12

like Hazrat Ibrahim (P.B.U.H). Hazrat Ibrahim (P.B.U.H) was thrown in the fire but he was saved by his
faith.
13-A Tale of Two Cities
The poet says that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were totally destroyed in a moment by the sudden atomic attacks
of America. Everything was burnt and the people were mercilessly killed. Nobody could see
that dreadful destruction. Nobody came to share their pains and sufferings. No one came to rescue them. All
was done by a cruel nation with its wild passions. They did not care for human rights. They ignored the
basic norms of humanity. But the victims were great. They had courage and confidence to regain their glory.
They worked hard to be strong. As a result of their will power and full determination, they stood on
the map of the world as an economically strong and unconquerable nation.
14-My Neighbour Friend Breathing his Last!
The central idea of the poem is death. The death of a friend in neighborhood frightens the poet. He is too
much worried and afraid. He is afraid of his own death. He is sad on the death of his friend who will never
meet him again. The poet is aware of the fact that life is a journey and its destination is death. Bullah is
in loss without love of God. He cannot live without his love in this world and life hereafter.
15-He Came to Know Himself
Sachal Sarmast is actually a Sindhi poet .He gives an idea of love of God. He mentions
the extraordinary significance of love of God. He gives reference to a mystic experience of a saint, Mansur.
He was in deep love of God and his experience of love was so intimate and unusual that he even went to say,
I am God. His, this statement was totally opposed to the teachings of Islam. He became mad in his
experience and his thinking moved to a quite wrong side. Therefore he was sentenced to death. The poet has
given Mansur as a reference to strengthen his own idea of love of God. However, the real massage of the
poem is love for the creator.
16-Gods Attributes,
The poem reveals the significance of Gods Attributes for human beings. The poet believes that these
attributes are not just titles. Indeed, they can contribute a lot in developing human character. The poet
believes that if we have a strong faith that God is All Seeing All Hearing and All knowing we will
think hundred times before doing an evil deed or using foul and objectionable language. All these attributes
of God create fear in human mind to forbid from committing sins and vices.
17-The Delight Song
This love and close relation with natural beauty lead the poet to form relationship with the earthly objects
and creatures. His thinking and attitude make him happy and alive. This poem is about happiness. The poet
says that when man is happy, everything looks him happy. When man is glad, he finds delight and pleasure
in everything.
18-Love An Essence of All Religions
In this poem the poet throws light on the importance of love. Love has a mysterious power in itself. Love
changes everything. Love has miraculous effect on everything. Love has its tremendous effects on
everything.
19-A Man of Words and Not of Deeds
In this poem A man of words and not of deeds the poet throws light on the life of an impractical man. He
is a man of words not of deeds. A man who just talks and does nothing is like a wild weed that is useless and
fruitless. He is like a snow in winter that is not beneficial for living things. Only practical men
are successful and wise. Because ,they practically strive to win the race of life.
20-In Broken Images

Moral Stories
Moral stories are those that are read at childhood, when the soul is pure and clear, and remembered for the
rest of our lives. They are also passed on to generations. It is difficult to find out origin of different moral
stories, as they are found in different countries. But most of the stories are said to be originate from Aesop,
hence they are also known as Aesops tales. Children's moral stories help children remember lessons and
virtues that they will use in everyday life. These stories offer simple messages that explain the rights and
wrongs of each character's actions. -------------------------------------------" teaches the importance of -----------

One day a hunter went out to catch birds. He spread out a net on the ground. He put rice all over the net.
Then he hid in a bush nearby. Soon some pigeons came flying by. They saw the rice. They did not see the
net. They flew to the ground. They began to eat the rice. The hunter in the bush saw the pigeons eating the
rice. He pulled the string of the net. The pigeons were caught in the net. The pigeons had a leader. He said to
the pigeons, We are caught in a hunters net. Dont get afraid. Do what I say. Then you will be saved. We
will do what you say, said all the pigeons. Fly together up in the sky, said the leader. All the pigeons flew
up. They took the net off the ground. The hunter ran after them. But he could not catch them. The leader
said, We have got away from the hunter. But we have not got away from the net. Let us go to our friend, the
mouse. He will help us. They flew down to the ground. They found the mouse in his hole. The leader said,

The slave saw that his paw was swollen and a thorn was stuck in it. The slave drew out the thorn very
gently. The lion was relieved of pain and went away. Afterwards they became friends.

put him before a hungry lion. The day for punishment was fixed.
The people of the town were invited to see the wonderful fight. The lion was freed from the cage to pounce
upon the slave when he recognized him.
He now advanced slowly towards him and began to lick his hands out of love. It was the same lion, his

immersed in deep sorrow and out of disappointment he gave up all hope and struggle.
But one day he saw a spider in that cave. It was trying to reach the roof of the cave where it had a cobweb. It
made six attempts to reach its web but every time it slipped down.
Now the king got interested and watched the spider carefully. He was astonished to see that spider did not
lose heart but continued its efforts to reach up at the top. At the seventh attempt the spider was successful in
its attempt of reaching its web.
This incident boosted up the spirit of King Bruce. He gained new strength and fresh courage. He gathered

5-Short Story for Kids: "Tit For Tat"
There lived in a forest a crane and a fox. They were good friends. They used to kill small creatures and
shared the food together.
One day the crane invited the fox to his house for dinner. The fox did hardly eat anything during the day,
because he thought that his friend must have arranged for a good feast. But when the food was served by the
crane, the fox found that it was inside a narrow-necked jar, from which the fox could not lick to taste the
food. He sat idly there, while the crane sucked it by inserting his long neck and beak.
After the dinner, the crane asked the fox, "Friend, how did you enjoy the dinner?"
The fox suppressed his great anger, and smilingly said, "Oh, it was really a fine dinner!"
Next day the fox invited the crane to his house for dinner. The crane thought that he was not a fool like his
friend. He would eat all the food to be given to him by the fox. He also did not take much food during the
day to retain good appetite, and went early in the evening to the fox's house.
The fox received his friend cordially and offered him soup in a plate. The crane did not know how to eat the
soup from a flat plate. The fox licked the soup from his own plate in a moment, while the crane sat idly to
watch the fox eating the soup.
After the dinner, the fox asked the crane, "Friend, how did you enjoy the dinner?"
The crane replied, "Oh, it was fine! I really enjoyed it."
The crane cursed the sly fox from his heart, as he served him in the same way as he had himself served the
fox. The hungry crane had to return home in an angry mood.

reach home. He went to an inn to get his horse. The stable men brought out his horse and said, Sir, your
horse has lost a shoe nail. You better wait and have it put in. The merchant said, Sorry! I have no time
now. Moreover, one nail more or less in shoe does not matter much. Saying so, he got on his horse and
galloped it towards his destination.

After some time, another nail from the shoe of the horse came off. The horse began to limp. Being in a
hurry, the merchant did not stop to repair the damage. After some time, the horse began to stagger. Very
soon darkness of the night prevailed everywhere. This further decreased the speed of the horse.
20

The darkness was falling. He was getting late. At last he got down and led the horse. In the meantime, a
gang of robbers appeared from the forest. The merchant could not speed away his horse and save his money.
