Rule 4. Diga: Karma

If the eclipse is seen (visible) in the four cardinal
directions, then the four classes of people shall
suffer
Brahmin (north), [Cn, Le = 4H 5H]
Katriya (east), [Ar, Ta = 1H 2H]
Vaiya (west) [Li, Sc 7H 8H]
dra (south) [Cp, Aq = 10H 11H]
If instead, the eclipse is seen in the corners, then
followingg shall suffer
northeast mleccha (no caste aimless) [Ge, 3H]
southeast attacking army (enemies) [Pi, 12H]
southwest engineers, fire users (cooks) [Sg, 9H]
northwest - skilled workers, servants [Vi, 6H]

Diga - Directions
Is Varhamihira referring to physical
directions?
No
No. Eclipse must happen on the equatorial sun-
sun
earth plane. If you can never see the Sun in the
north (people living above the tropics) then the
eclipse cannot happen to your north.
The directions are either based on (1) signs or (2)
houses. Signs have been mentioned
Houses: 1, 5, 9 = East; 2, 6, 10 = South; 3, 7, 11
= West; 4, 8, 12 = North same for Fire, Earth,
