A Chinese Hoax
What would you do to cure a severe fever? The doctors might tell you to take an ice bath
while your mom might make you your grandmas herbal remedy. One thing is for sure, they
would act right away. So why arent we doing the same with our home? Why is it that all were
doing is questioning while it pleads for help? Its been the only home weve all known for
generations yet nobody cares that its dying. This is what global warming is doing to our planet
today. It is killing our home because of extreme levels of carbon dioxide or other pollutants. I
am here today to speak for the dying animals and our helpless planet. We are still young, we
have our whole lifetime ahead of us. We can use it to save our home. We can change many
Many think that climate change is some sort of old wives tale and that it is exaggerated
but global warming is happening and its happening fast. The last two decades have been the
hottest recorded in 400 years. By simply looking at local weather patterns we can see the effects
of global warming happening before our eyes. The maximum temperature recorded on
Thanksgiving of 2016 in Los Angeles was 79 degrees Fahrenheit just a year later this number
rose to 91 degrees Fahrenheit. The area that has been most affected by this issue has been the
arctic. The region might actually have its first completely ice-free summer by 2040. The arctic is
already melting. The sea ice volume in this region has already declined by 80% since 1980. The

More than 16,000 scientists from around the world have signed an agreement to warn
civilians about global warming and its real effects. 25 years ago only 1,700 scientists had signed
this agreement. The experts are accepting the truth behind global warming because of the
obvious evidence throughout the years. William Ripple, a widely published researcher who
specializes in ecology and is a professor from Oregon State University has stated, Humanity is
now being given a second notice...We are jeopardising our future by not reigning in our
intense...material consumption. Even NASAs Earth observatory system has calculated that
...the temperature has climbed 33.26 degrees Fahrenheit in the last century. The effects of
Many of us dont even notice the rising temperatures, but our descendants will. By the
time they are in this world the effects will be even more extreme. At that point they cant do
much or anything about it. They will just have to live with it and try to stop it at the point that its
already reached. We couldve helped them. We couldve saved them. We could save ourselves.
Our city is the nations leader in harmful ozone pollution. This makes us more likely to develop
asthma, lung problems, or even die prematurely. These are the real consequences because of our
failure to accept the truth. You know who else has noticed our lack of action? The animals in the
Arctic. Polar bears were found dead in the water. The cause of death? Drowning. Polar bears are
known to be strong swimmers so then how did they drown? The poor animals were swimming to
find a piece of ice but there isnt much anymore. It has melted and the few pieces that are there
are too far from each other. The animals couldnt keep swimming. They got tired. Our world is
tired.

Our planet doesnt have much time left. It is deathly ill and we must treat it now. We
need to stop acting clueless and accept the guilt. We have been killing our planet for centuries
and we still are. It needs to stop and it needs to stop now. Dont do it for me. Do it for the ones
who are actually suffering. Do it for the polar bears that are dying. Do it for your future family.
