D.A.C.A: Immigration Reform:

Stress, a common emotion among all inhabitants of this planet, yet weve all felt like ours

is severely worse than others, but there is stress that Im free of that other people in this country

are faced with, one that is far worse. Robert Kennedy once said, Our attitude towards

immigration reflects our faith in the American ideal. We have always believed it possible for

men and women who start at the bottom to rise as far as the talent and energy allow. Neither race

nor place of birth should affect their chances.. DACA, a program, that allows immigrant

children to legally obtain temporary citizenship in attempt to take part in the American Ideal.

The exact same way we as Americans set out to chase a dream; the end of DACA will

inhibit Americas ability to dream and will negatively impact Americas culturally rich society

and our rich economy. US immigration: DACA and Dreamers explained an Article published

by CNN highlights the requirements to be a member of DACA and what DACA is. Alongside

that it describes the effects it can have on those ,who are enrolled, if Congress gets rid of the

program. David Dobrik, a Youtuber with over 5 million subscribers, is a Member of DACA. He

was in a podcast that shares his personal experience as a member and the severity of the situation

as a whole. It highlights the fact that it imprisons his dreams and opportunities that hes

rightfully earned. Casey Neistat, CEO of BEME, made a video talking about a man who is

enlisted in the army and is being denied the opportunity to serve in the army just because he's a

member of DACA. These works of art all speak about a person in pursuit of a better life or even

giving back to their communities and they are being held back by the end of the program and this

is detrimental to our society.

CNN published an article called,US immigration: DACA and Dreamers explained it

starts off with logos hitting the logical side of things, talking about statements that have to be

true for you to be able to join the group. This puts into perspective for the reader, the obstacles

that an individual may endure while trying to obtain said membership. Not only are they to meet

requirements but they are issued a driver's license and a social security number plus theyre

expected to pay taxes. There's a common misconception of the group is that the members of this

group aren't contributors to our society and dont deserve to live here, but in all actually they

contribute as much as the average American if not more. They do the basics: get a job, go to

school and pay taxes. Exciting huh? Well, thats not it,They also contribute in many other ways

like bringing diversity to our society and if you believe this is unimportant, are you truly

American? Melting pot a term used to describe the United States as a fusion of cultures,

ethnicities and nationalities. Which does not mean a whole lot except for the fact they

specifically made this term to describe the United States.Still not important enough, right? Lets

move the magnifying glass to a different time period and a different country. 1933, Berlin,

Germany, Adolph Hitler comes to power as the Chancellor. His top priority was to create the

Aryan race, which consisted of people who all looked the same and had the same ideals. This

slowly began by carving out all the people who didnt fit, within 10 years of this mindset, it led

to the mass extermination of many other cultures, ethnicities and nationalities. This is relevant

because it started with getting the country full of the aryan race for reasons like they take our

jobs, they don't contribute to our society they are just taking advantage, and they are to

blame for our economic failure. Ironically you can draw parallels between their society and ours

even though they're two completely different places and at 2 different time periods.
On a different note, Members of DACA are referred to as Dreamers, David Dobrik , a

dreamer, is in a podcast that overall talks about his experience as a dreamer. Although, that is

amazing, there were some things that he talked about that made the podcast more valuable for

material to be analyzed. The first one being the parallel he drew between himself and the

stereotypical and statistically dominant race of the dreamers. If you don't know what he looks

like let me paint a picture. He is white, with brown hair and brown eyes. Pretty normal right?

Well the stereotypical dreamer is a Mexican. They predominantly dont have white

pigmentation so theyre easy to pick out in a crowd of white Americans. Well what does this

have to do with David? In the podcast he talks about the troubles he went through in the last 6

months because he wanted to leave the country for work purposes but was told he wouldn't be

granted re entry if he left. It was extremely arduous for him to get approval, eventually he did but

imagine if David was brown skinned and from Mexico? If David was already treated poorly as a

white man, just imagine if his skin was dark? Imagine how much harder it would have been for

him to obtain approval. Imagine how much worse he could have been treated because of the way

he looked. Would he have been allowed to leave? This puts into perspective the Ethos or ethics

that play a role in the situation. Ethically, Dreamers have 6 months left of their freedom and

should be allowed to be the same until then right? Ethically you skin color shouldnt play a role

in the decision. Although things arent looking good for dreamers, they have six months to

achieve as much as energy will allow them to but they cant. This is really sad because most

dreamers flee their country of origin in attempt to pursue a better lifestyle and accomplish all

they can in this short life. In 6 months time they could lose the opportunity to share this beautiful

land with Americans, but my question to americans that are in favor of getting rid of the

program is the same as Davids. Why? What benefit does it bring us ?

Davids story is amazing but let's look at someone who plays a bit more of a pivotal role

in society.Harminder an undocumented immigrant that joined DACA as soon as the program was

launched by the Obama administration, has plans to serve in the U.S Army. Harminders main

ploy was to serve and give back to the country that made him. Why does he said this country

made him if he is undocumented? Well, it might have to due with the fact that he moved from

India at the age of 6 and doesnt even remember India. Like all the others in 6 months he could

be forced to leave the U.S, a land that sculpted him into what he is today to a truly foreign land.

One that he cannot remember and has no friends or job in. This is devastating for America

because there are people who rightfully reserve their right to joined the armed forces. Harminder

wasnt even born here and he wants to put his life on the line for fellow Americans that feel

this is a better country without his presence. It hit close to home when he talked about the fact

that hes could be deported to a foreign land. Coming to America a foreign country was hard

enough at a young age but its happening again. This is hard for me to understand that we would

push away a good person. If you go back even further than 1933, all the way to beginning of

time when we weren't as advanced as we are now, what set us apart from any other animal on the

food chain? It was our ability to develop communication and work together to complete a task.

One for one we cannot compare to a lion or a tiger, but if you put 10 people vs 1 lion we have a

extremely better chance at winning the battle. Especially in this time period where our biggest

enemy isnt a lion, it's actually other country , turning away more people that could be influential

to the continuity of our country doesnt make sense. You can even look a Germany during

hitler's reign of power. Think of all the people that were turned away because the didn't fit the

physical description. The amount of talent and manpower that they pushed away or did not

utilize.
All in all, the end of DACA would end so many beneficial opportunities for the United

States and for the immigrants that are apart of the program. For the united states we would suffer

by having a lack of diversity and open mindedness in the country and we would take a big hit

economically because we wouldnt have those extra taxes coming in from the members of

DACA. The members of DACA would lose out on the opportunity to enrich their lives. Most

dreamers come from a country that doesn't have the ideal environment for self development. This

is a common issue that the citizens from Juarez face, they often are influenced by drug trade and

or poverty, these factors can hinder self development significantly.
