1. To what extent were learning outcomes appropriate and achievable to your students?
For the most part, I believe my learning outcomes were appropriate and achievable for
my students. Almost all students involved in this lesson met my learning outcomes. I
was able to measure this from the exit ticket and questioning throughout the lesson.
2. How effective were your instructional strategies? What changes would you make in
your instructional approaches if you taught this lesson again? Why?

I believe my instructional strategies were effective when teaching this lesson. My goal
for this lesson was for students to learn through student inquiry. The activities helped
make this goal successful. However, if I were to teach this lesson again, I would build
in more time for the direct instruction that existed in my lesson to further support and
ensure student comprehension of the vocabulary.
3. Evaluate the effectiveness of your oral and written communication with students.
(Consider how well you communicated learning objectives, clarity of directions, use of standard English, quality of
questions and effectiveness of discussion techniques.)

Overall, I believe I was very effective when communicating with my students. I believe
my questioning was strong. In this lesson, I did pay particular attention to the
directions I gave, trying to make them as clear and concise as I could. I believe I
succeeded in this, because almost all students were able to begin the activity without
asking questions directly after my directions were given.

4. Evaluate the level of student engagement in your lesson. (Consider how you presented the
content/skills, the activities and assignments for students, grouping of students, and structure and pacing of the
lesson.)

I believe students were engaged throughout the lesson. This lesson was centered
around student activities, with very little direct instruction. Since the lesson was made
into a sort of game, I believe student engagement was strong throughout the entirety
of the lesson.

5. How effectively did you use instructional materials, resources, and/or technology?
I believe I could have improved on my use of technology in the lesson. I did not use
any technology for this lesson besides a powerpoint presentation projected on the
television. For the most part, I created my resources that I used for this lesson.

6. To what extent were your assessment strategies effective? What changes would you
make in your assessment approach if you taught this lesson again? Why?

My assessment strategies were effective. My main form of assessment was an exit

ticket where students had to use relative location to describe an object. I think if I were
to do this lesson again, I would set an amount of directional words that must be used
within the exit ticket. This would help give me a more solid understanding of who
understood relative location and who did not.

7. To what extent was your feedback to students accurate, substantive, constructive,

specific, and/or timely?
My feedback to students during the group work was immediate. While students were
working, I walked around to provide feedback to groups. I was not able to circulate to
every group. I believe this is something I need to work on, because every group could
have benefited to my feedback. Thankfully, I had Mrs.Reid to help monitor some of the
groups.

8. To what extent did the classroom management and environment contribute to student
learning? (Consider your classroom procedures, your use of physical space, and the students conduct.)

I believe I did have effective classroom management. For the most part, I was able to
redirect students if they seemed off task or off topic. Students were a bit wild during
this lesson, but I believe I managed it well by reminding them of the expectations.

9. Did you make modifications to your lesson plan during the lesson? If so, what were
they and what motivated these changes?

During this lesson I did not make any modifications. I accidentally forgot to walk
through the examples of relative location on my powerpoint before moving on to the
next activity. I had to review these examples quickly at the end of the lesson. This was
not an intentional modification.
10. Was your Teaching Behavior Focus goal met?

My teaching behavior focus for this lesson was creating a strong classroom climate. I
believe I did meet this goal. I have relationships build with the students to help create a
strong lesson. I do believe I have more work to do regarding the classroom climate.
Im looking forward to continue building strong relationships throughout the next
semester.
