INTRODUCTION
Reverberation is the sound that persists in an enclosed space due to multiple
reflections, even after the source of the sound has stopped. Reverberation time is the
time required for the sound to fade away in a closed area. Sound in a room will bounce
off in reflective surfaces like ceiling, floor, tables, and walls. Reverberation in a room
will be reduced if the reflections hit absorbent surfaces such as curtains and foams.
The said theory was applied since each group were tasked to compute the
reverberation time in a specific room. Our group chose to compute the reverberation
time for room 415. Each room has different reverberation time since the
reverberation time varies with the materials used inside the room. Some have
Styrofoam ceiling; some does not have. In line with this, the group will redesign their
chosen room by implementing proper acoustical treatment. For our group, we chose
to transform room 415 into a music studio.

II. CURRENT STATE OF ROOM

The group chose to compute the reverberation time of room 415. Unlike any other
room in Asia Pacific College, this room does not have a Styrofoam ceiling which means
that the room has a possibility to have higher reverberation time compared to rooms
with Styrofoam ceiling. Below is the tabulation of materials inside the room with its
corresponding measurement.

IV. CONCLUSION
The reverberation time of each room varies on the material used, as well as the
equipment inside the room. The computed RT60 of room 415 is 0.25 seconds. The
reverberation time is within the standard reverberation time of 0.3 seconds and
below for a music studio. The group implemented proper acoustical treatment on
room 415 and gained a new RT60 of 0.11 seconds to further enhance the sound quality
of the room.

V. RECOMMENDATION
The reverberation time of the proposed music studio is within the acceptable
range. However, the quality of sound and reverberation time will further be improved
if the construction of the room is already within the standard of the usual music
studio. This is because the shape of the room as well as the materials used for the
walls will have an impact on the reverberation time and overall sound quality within
the room.
