Abstract: Keywords:
Usability is defined as the range of utilization Usability, medicine, web, evaluation.
of a product by a group of specific users to
achieve certain determined goals with effecti-
veness, efficiency and satisfaction in a specific
use context. This paper shows an approach to
the concept of Web Usability, as well as the
principles on which it is based on, its relatio-
nship with accessibility, and the most com-
mon methods for its evaluation (user testing,
heuristic evaluation, card sorting, focus groups
and prototyping). Finally, the section Explai-
ning the web, health applications and Usabi-
lity shows the application of the Usability
principles in Medicine, such as health-based
websites, interactive medical consulting and
medical information sharing systems, personal
digital assistants or PDAs, training and educa-
tional programs in the Web, computer-based
applications for diagnosis, and preventive and
therapeutic programs.
