‘MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES MECHATRONICS SYSTEMS, LTD. 3.3.1. Procedure for Operation Startistop, speed, direction of rotation, are controlled by control handle. ‘Speed of rotation is increased / decreased in proportion to operated angle of control handle, Neutral position — Deck machinery stops Winding side — Normal rotation Unwinding side — Reverse rotation >> NOTE Even after operator set control handle to neutral position (to stop motion of winch), rotation of winch does not stop completely, and anchor chain or hawser rope can be paid out slowly (‘sag phenomenon). After operation of winch, apply band brake in order to make rotation of winch stop completely fe of hydraulic motor, hydraulic oil leaks from high pressure part to low pressure part, through small clearance of each sliding part. Due to its internal leak, hydraulic motor can rotate slowly toward loaded direction. Windlass 1 Unwinding (with motor's drive) ‘a. Open chain stopper. b. Set clutch to “engaged”. Insert lever securing pin to ensure the fixation. c. Release chain drum band brake. 4. Operate controller gradually from the neutral position to unwinding side. Adjust unwinding speed properly by control handle. After unwinding operation is completed, set control handle to neutral position and apply chain stopper. f. Apply chain drum band brake. 9. Set chain drum clutch to "disengaged" Insert lever securing pin to ensure the fixation. 2 Anchoring (Drop anchor) a. Set chain drum to “disengaged”. Insert lever securing pin to ensure the fixation. b. Release chain drum band brake gradually, and start dropping anchor slowly. ¢. Stop dropping of anchor chain every shackle of chain by applying band brake, to prevent excess dropping speed which leads to excess tensile force and/or accidents such like lost-anchor. d. After anchoring is completed, apply band brake firmly and apply chain stopper. 3 Winding (heave up) a. Set chain drum clutch to “engaged”. Insert lever securing pin to ensure the fixation. b. Open chain stopper. ¢. Release band brake gradually, and operate handle toward winding side. . After winding of anchor completes, set control handle to neutral position and apply stopper of control handle. e. Apply band brake for chain drum firmly and apply chain stopper. Operate control handle for winding and unwinding. Adjust speed properly by control handle, >> NOTE ‘* When mooring rope is unwound, keep at least 5 rows of dead turns remaining on the hawser drum. * As for direction of rope winding on hawser drum, check “ARRANGEMENT” for proper winding direction. If it is wrong direction, counter balance valve does not activate properly, and mooring rope cannot be held after contro! handle positioned to neutral.
