Art has been used for several purposes throughout the history of humankind

but generally art is used for evoking something in humans. Enki Bilal conveys

his concept of art through Hatzfeld Tetralogy. For understand how Enki

Bilal thinks about we must understand how Warhole/Holeraw approaches to

art. As we understand at the last book; the mysterious skeleton found at the

ancient ruins is the Warhole himself and we can convey that Warhole is the

first and all present man in the universe. As he explains in the books he tries

continuously to satisfy his basic instincts vis-a-vis basic needs and he uses

art for this process.

As Warhole, his way is destroying monuments; as Holeraw, he creates art

with Art Brut and Happenings. He explores the very edge of morals to

discover his true self and reach it.

One can discover that Enki Bilal projects his view about art through Optus

Warhole/Holeraw. Warhole sees himself as god; he sees human beings as

tools to his projects and his art. With his successful cloning, he is presented

as god or Enki Bilal tries to project non-existence of god. He experiments

with humans just as to create new human civilization which is free of

religion, and human preconceptions. His new civilization would be created

through Warhole's art.

Warhole's art itself is what we call Brutal Art today's world which is also

called outside art and raw art. Brutal Art is a contraversial art movement;

done mostly by psychiatric patients, children and non traditionally educated

artists; in the first volume Warhole says that his mental state has never

been well adjusted. That is the cue of his art is Brutal Art. Why he uses

Brutal Art concept is that he tries to go beyond the prerecognized concepts

of art and art critics, simply to be contraversial. But his strive fails as art

critics appreciates his art and people blindly follows the critics. Holeraw

even makes Nike cut his hair grotesque but even his hair cut became a trend

and people follow this trend blindly.

This art critics issue is a very same situation at actual world and this why

Bilal uses Art Brut. Art Brut is not a populer art movement in actual world

but in series it is highly appreciated. It is Enki Bilal's way of criticizing

people's blindly following the art critics as masses. He strongly criticizes

the collective perspective adopted by the people and Bilal promotes

individual perspective to art.

His perspective towards art can be expanded to the religion and communal

life philosophies. He objects to the mass following and tries to evoke

people's action taking. Through the comics Warhole tries that with flies. He

controls people with flies and make them act outside the what expected

from them. At the end we can see that he succeeds as flies on the spaceship

make people have sex and impregnate women to create a new hybrid race.

This hybrid race represents the non religious, stripped of morality,

freewilled society.

In conclusion, Enki Bilal projects a dystopic yet utopic (Mars scene) future

to warn and advice us about our communal life and personal action taking.

Showing us the juxtaposed scenes with Earth (dystopia) and Mars (utopia)

he clearly reveals the importance of free will. This discrepacy between

Earth and Mars can be seen through the Leyla and Nike's relationship.
Earth's couples have broken up whereas Mars' clone couple continues their

relationship happily.
