ABSTRACT

The agriculture sector is one of the economy get a priority in regional development,
its because most of population dependent on the sector and a source of income for the
majority of the population, thus its no wrong if the agricultural sector serves as a support to
regional development. The agriculture sector in the District Karo consistsof a food crops and
horticultures, plants,animal husbandries, foresty and fisheries.
Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the basis sector and agriculture
sector to contribution to the gross regional domestic product in the district Karo. This study
uses a secondary data sourced form of time series data from 2011 2014. The analysis model
is a Location Quotient (LQ) and sector contribution to gross regional domestic product in the
District Karo.
The result showed that the agriculture sector, foresty and fisheries, provision of
accomodation and foods, public administration and defense compulsory social security,
education services, and other services is a sector basis or have a high role in the regional
economy. It is characterized by LQ is greather than one, while other sectors are non basis
sector because it has a LQ value smaller than one. In 2014, the agriculture sector, foresty and
fisheries, provides the largest contribution in gross regional domestic product structure in the
District Karo is 56,61 persen.
