Answer for question 6 :

Yes, current parking system is problematic because of insufficient parking lots. Thus the current
parking pass application using the MYUM website only provide a parking pass but does not
guarantee a parking lot for the pass holder. Currently students need to apply for the pass using
MYUM website, preparing manual supporting documents and paying RM3 per sticker and the
sticker can only be collected at Pejabat Keselamatan Kolej Kediaman 12. After getting the
parking pass, many of the students are unable to get physical parking lots because the numbers
of pass issued are more than availability of the parking lot. If we were to compare our current
system with the smaller university that uses paper form, our university have improved on their
application where our details are stored in MYUM and we jst need to click on the New
Application after entering particulars about the vehicle. Thus I would like to encourage other
universities that are still using paper form application to change and use information system to
improve their services. The business process at University Malaya that need to be change is the
current credit exemption system that requires students to obtain letter manually from the
faculty office followed by preparing supporting documents and receipt of payment to
submitted to office located at Canseleri Building for approval and bringing back the documents
for further process back to faculty office. Then at the end of the semester, during the semester
break there will be announcement from FPP facebook regarding this application where we
must come to the office and collect the letter. This process can be improved through an
Information Systems , where we can do the application using a MYUM website and sending the
supporting documents via attaching them. The application status and the result also must be
included in information system process so that it will save time, cost and paper.

Answer for question 7 :

My career of choice is to become an accountant. Most accounting tasks these days are
processed in a computer, so information systems have a huge impact on how accounting is
done and what reports are generated. Not only the accounting tasks performed at a high speed,
they are also made easy to do for most businesses. Calculations are done automatically with
fewer errors than manual accounting, greatly improving efficiency. Once the data are key-in or
uploaded in the system it eases for further reference and also kept safe using access system.
Thus the accountant and management and focus on the decision making aspect using the
information generated by systems. Some of the software applications in accounting field are
System Application Products (SAP), Sage UBS, JD Edwards Enterprise and Excel.
