(n.d.). Retrieved September 30, 2017

INTRODUCTION

Research Questions (if research questions are not specifically

mentioned, what is the theoretical background or overarching
theme):
How do principles utilize technology in schools to help students
grow and improve their everyday life?

Purpose of the research:

The purpose of the research is to show how communication
between teachers parents, as well as between administration
can be enhanced. Additionally, the research proves an in-
crease in student learning and instruction.
METHODOLOGY
What is the methodology for the research or approach used to under-
stand the issue? Provide information regarding the following:

Participants:
- sample of 310 principals (ranging years of experience and gen-
der)
- Graduate students in the Educational Leadership Program
Procedures:
- convenience sample of 310 principals from a large metro-
politan area in the southwest region of the United States
responded to a cognitive interview questionnaire that
asked principals about their perceptions regarding the im-
portance of technology for their schools.
- The questionnaire was administered by graduate students
- For this study, only the data from the interviews was used.
The interview questions were Has technology had an im-
pact in your school? and If so, in what specific ways has
it made a difference?
Data collection methods/Data source:
- coded data (percentages) and interviews/surveys
Data Analysis:
- Data from the Questionnaire was coded and gathered and
put into categories by years of experience, like 0-3 years through
8-11 years, then finally categorized into 6 major functions of
technology ( Communication, Instruction, Data sharing and
Management, Resource, Administrative tasks, and Student
Learning).
RESULTS

Findings or Results (or main points of the article):

- The results of this research questionnaire prove that tech-
nology is in fact, an important tool for schools and that princi-
pals believe it can be used as a resource for students everyday
life. The research also resulted in the findings of the 6 compo-
nents that technology helps improve. These 7 components are
communication, instruction, data sharing and management, re-
source, administrative tasks, and student learning.

DISCUSSIONS

Conclusions/Implications (for your profession):

- The study indicates that principals perceptions of the
major functions of technology in their schools are varied by sex
and years of experience. Also, This study provides insight into
principals perceptions of technology importance but further re-
search is needed to fully address the issue of how these percep-
tions influence technology leadership. (Waxman 2013 194)

REFLECTIONS
Students Reflections (changes to your understanding; implica-
tions for your school/work):
- Technology helps improve the lives of students everyday
at school. By having principles enforce the idea of this and con-
tinue to increase the technology use in schools, the entire com-
munity benefits. As is seen in this research, Principals are re-
sponsible for a lot that goes around school. Therefore, by imple-
menting the use of technology to the teachers and staff, the stu-
dents are able to grasp new programs and educational resources
that can help further their learning.
