I. OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT STANDARDS:
1. art elements and processes by synthesizing and applying prior knowledge and skills
2. the arts as integral to the development of organizations, spiritual belief, historical events,
scientific discoveries, natural disasters/ occurrences, and other external phenomena
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
1. perform/participate competently in a presentation of a creative impression (verbal/nonverbal)
from the Neoclassic and Romantic periods
2. recognize the difference and uniqueness of the art styles of the different periods (techniques,
process, elements, and principles of art)
C. COMPETENCIES
1. Analyze art elements and principles in the production of work following a specific art style from
the Neoclassic and Romantic periods
2. Identify distinct characteristics of arts during the Neoclassic and Romantic periods.
3. Identify representative artists from the Neoclassic and Romantic periods.

D. REFRENRENCES: Music & Arts Grade 9 Learners Material (Pp. 218-253)
II. PROCEDURE
A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY
a. MOTIVATION
Show some pictures of paintings and sculptures to the students.
Ask them to interpret or describe the paintings/sculptures or what do they feel/think
about the art.
Introduce the neoclassic and romantic arts. Ask them what comes to their mind when
they heard or read the word classic and romantic?
B. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITY
a. ACITIVITIES
Grouped the students in ten.
Give each group a task.
Students can also watch video about romantic and neoclassic arts.
Each grouped will discussed the task given by the teacher. There will also a short
discussion.
b. GENERALIZATION
Ask the students what they have learned in the lesson.
C. POST ACTIVITY
a. REFLECTION
After studying the neoclassic and romantic, ask the students, if they are going to paint
or sculpt, would it be a neoclassic or romantic? Why? What would be the subject of
their artwork? Why did they choose that subject?
