Practicum Goals

1. Myken Carew: November 20, 2017 December 15, 2017

Goal: Classroom Management

Improve my ability to have students remain involved and engaged in the task.

Strategies: Try new types of fun ways to have the class pay attention and stay on task
for the duration of the activity (ie. Hands on top that means stop, look sharp)
Incorporate a management technique the class already has the knowledge of (running
laps in the gym when they go in) in to my lesson to reinforce management that they are
aware of.

Indicators of Achievement: Incorporating a new technique over the course of three

lessons so students have the ability to learn it, and incorporate it two to three times
throughout the lesson to ensure students engagement and attention. Ensuring that
students are on task by incorporating at least one management technique that they are
familiar with into each lesson plan, to reinforce management.

KSA: 7, 8

Reflections: Reflect on the choice of management tool used and how effective it was
with the class.

2. Myken Carew: November - December (First Lesson Taught Last Lesson Taught)

Goal: Lesson Planning

Design and organize lesson plans that are simple, yet detailed and easy to follow.

Strategies: Use a different style of lesson plan for each weeks lessons, maintain five
points for each activity (if reasonable), have a sponge activity specified in the lesson plan
just in case there is extra time.

Indicators of Achievement: Through ensuring that there are at least five brief detailed
points for each activity (if necessary), including specific instructions. Also by ensuring
each lesson plan has assessment ideas included, and be able to complete the lesson
plan 2 days in advance to the actual lesson.

KSA: 1, 3, 4, 6, 9

Reflection: Reflect on the structure of the lesson plan and if the criteria was met and
how easy it was to follow along with and stay on task. Evaluate the outcome of the
activities of what worked and what didnt.
3. Myken Carew: December 1 15, 2017

Goal: Questioning techniques

Determine appropriate questions, that target different types of thinking (ie. analytic,
descriptive, understanding)

Strategies: Ask different questions in each lesson plan for each activity, have them
specified within the lesson plan for each specific activity. Have extra questions specified
in the lesson plan just in case.

Indicators of achievement: By ensuring that there is a different style of question in each

lesson plan for each activity that is clearly identified. Also, by making sure questions
arent repeated in the lesson plans, to give me a longer list of developed questioning
styles to use.

KSA: 5, 6, 16

Reflection: Reflect on the appropriateness of the questions, and their ability to engage
the entire class. Also reflect on the style of question and if it was useful or not.
