Instructions for Preparing for and Directing a DuffMan Landing

By Nathan Holzworth

Following the recent incident where DuffMan knocked out the entire production facilitys
power during an unsafe landing we have implemented a new set of landing procedures for
DuffMan which require the involvement and guidance of one or more Duff employees. The
following are instructions for the designated landing coordinator who is on duty when DuffMan
calls in ahead of a landing.

1. Upon receiving a landing request from DuffMan over the radio the on-duty landing
coordinator should quickly finish whatever standard task they are working on, or pass it off to an
available coworker temporarily, and then radio back to DuffMan confirming that the landing
request has been received.

2. After confirming the landing request the landing coordinator will head out to the DuffMan
landing strip and activate the landing lights, activating the high-power landing lights as well in
low visibility situations such as fog, storms, or low cloud cover.

3. Once the lights are activated the landing coordinator will remain there on stand-by waiting for
DuffMan to radio that he is on close approach, at which point the landing coordinator will use
their special Duff brand binoculars to watch for visual confirmation that DuffMan is on the
right approach vector, and radio him to warn him if his path appears too close to any potential
obstacles.

4. When DuffMan lands the landing coordinator will check if DuffMan has anything he needs to
report about the flight, then deactivate any landing lights they turned on for the landing.

5. After securing the landing area and turning off any lights the landing coordinator may return
to their standard work. They are also allowed a 15 minute break after each landing before they
return to work if they so choose to take it.
