The unit is rated for input voltages of 10.8 to 31.2 V. However, it can operate with
voltages up to 43 V.
(If the unit is supplied with voltages greater then 43 V, the overvoltage protection circuit
operates and shut down the unit)

The output voltages and their uses are:

+5V: LCD backlight, key backlight, buzzer, relay operation
+3.3V: General digital circuitry, LCD module
+1.5V: CPU core
+5V iso: Serial transmission
+13V: Sensor power supply
All voltages are consumed within the unit, with the exception of the 13 V supplied to the
sensor.

Digital processing consists primarily of:

LCD display control
Key input detection
Serial transmission with external devices
Contact signal output
It is also used for controlling other units.

4.1 Diagnostics

4.1.1 Sensor Input and Output

Power Supply Check

13 V (typ.) is supplied to the sensor by the display unit. If this line is cut or power supply is
otherwise interrupted, the unit does not operate.

Turn the display unit on and check the power to the sensor as follows.
When checking the power, take care not to short circuit any pins.

Display Unit Rear

Pull out the connector

SENSOR

Measure voltage between pins 1 and

2 on SENSOR receptacle.

As the sensor is not connected,
there is no load, so the output
voltage ranges 15 to 20 V, which is
not abnormal.

Multimeter

If the measured voltage is zero,

The power supply in the display unit may be broken.

If the voltage is all correct,

The cable or sensor must be broken.

4-1
Check of Data Line
On starting the unit, the display unit and sensor check the settings each other.
If the unit switches automatically to the standard screen, there is no problem in the signal lines
(both sending and receiving).
If the screen shown below appears frequently, an error may have occurred.

Display Unit and Sensor Check Screen

{ Check of Receiving Line

The "Input Check" function can be used to check whether the display unit is receiving correctly
or not.
Refer to "5.4.2 Input Check" of the instruction manual for details.

Set the port selection to INPUT0, and run the Input Check.

If data is received, it can be monitored.
(However, as the data is of specific format, it is not readable)

4-2
4.1.2 Data Input and Output

Two rear receptacles can be used for interfacing with external devices.
If output is configured with the display unit, but there is no output, one of the following
techniques may be used to troubleshoot.
c Check on the connected end (using a line monitor or the like)
d Loop the signal back to the display unit and check

Following is a description of the loop back data monitoring method of investigation.

Data can be monitored by linking to the 1 and 2 pins of [DATA IN/OUT 2] to each
pair of output terminal.

When using the CFQ-5374 data cable, connect the brown (1) / red (2) leads.

Sensor
Replacement of CMJ-497-U / Processing Unit

This unit is configured at the factory for use in JLR-20 (NNN-20) equipment.
When performing replacement for a JLR-30(NNN-30), the dip switches on the board
must be aligned.

1. Remove the screws (6) from below the arm, and remove the central cover.

The gasket is greased.

Take care during replacement not to touch the grease.

2. Loosen the screws (4) on the aluminum cover, and remove the cover.
Loosen the attachment screws (3) on the processing unit case, then slide and remove the
case.

Replacement of CAY-62 / ANT Unit
First, check the number of the antennas to be replaced.

1. Remove the screws (3) from the bottom cover of the arm.

2. Remove the antenna attachment screws (4) and nylon clip attachment screw (1) from the
arm.

3. Remove the self-bonding tape, and unscrew the relay connector (TNC connector).

4. Remove the antenna, and replace it.

5. Reinsert all the connectors and screws.

Connector Waterproofing

Antenna [1]
After confirming that the connector is fastened firm,
perform waterproofing with self-bonding tape.
Apply tension to the tape so that it doubles in length, and
wind the tape around the connector overlapping, and
wrap the connector from end to end three times.
When wrapping the connector, begin from the end of
processing unit towards the antenna.
The water infilterate into the cable at the joint part where
the cable meets the connector as they are different in
Relay Connector diameter. Wind the tape there two to three times more.
(TNC Connector) After having wrapped the connector, press the tape to
promote the self-bonding.

[2]
Then wrap the connector with PVC tape three times
overlapping but not stretching. After wrapping the
connector, press the tape to promote adhesion to the
self-bonding tape.

[3]
The number of wraps depends on the diameter of Nylon
Clip. Pay attention so that the wrapped connector and
the clip fit each other.
