assigned readings and/or discussed in class, including students contributions. The final exam is a
cumulative exam plus any material covered after the third regular exam.
Discussion Boards. I will post daily audio/video lectures as well as PowerPoint presentations. Students
should check daily for course updates and new lectures. I will pose questions for discussion for which
you can contribute and participate as well as pose comments to other classmates posts. You will be
evaluated on the quality of your contributions.
Discussion Board class points are weighted. Your portion of the possible 50 points will be based on the
percentage of total points you earn on your posts. Discussion board questions will reflect a little over half
a letter grade.
Homework. Each chapter will have a series of exercises to complete. Homework assignments are also
weighted. Your portion of the possible 200 points will be a factor of the percentage of total points you
earn. Homework assignments will count for 25% of your overall grade.
Quizzes. There will be quizzes for each chapter. The quizzes will help you understand the material that
will be on the section exams as well as the comprehensive final. Quizzes are also weighted. Your portion
of the possible 50 points will be based on the percentage of total points you earn on quizzes. Quizzes will
reflect a little over half a letter grade.
Class paper. For this assignment, towards the end of the semester, based on what youve learned
through the first 12 chapters, you are asked to submit a proposal to your pseudo company management on
the need to invest in an appropriate information system to replace the manual processes the company
employs today. The paper will have a 1 page executive summary with 4-5 pages of supporting
information listing the issues today and the benefits of implementing a real information system.

While collaboration on assignments is not discouraged, please do not send your final work to
another student. Last year there was an incident where two student papers were 100% identical.
Both the student who authored and shared the work and the student who submitted the
plagiarized copy were punished. In addition, a student who intentionally submitted work from a
previous semester was caught and punished. Dont let this happen to you!
**Also, all work is to be your work, no one elses! If your submitted work is found to be
plagiarized the first occurrence will result in 0 points for that assignment. A second occurrence
will result in an F grade for the term.
