Hopeless Fountain Kingdom

HALSEY

Track list

For my digipak, I wanted an intertextual reference to my music video, which is seen in many indie artists
work, and so I have chosen to have a shot of one of my characters whom I think portrays the song that I
have created the video for and the story of the album most accurately; therefore I will be using a close up
of a female models face underwater on the front cover, editing the water to be brighter. The inside
images of the digipak will either be close ups of other body parts under water, such as the models collar
bones, or just the water ripples. For the back cover, I plan on having a close up of the models hair over her
shoulders in the water to the right, allowing a track list to be on the left. From my focus group, I am aware
that many people do not like to see the artist on the cover, especially if it is an indie artist, and so this may
work well, but also attract a wider audience as people who become fans from the music promo will
recognise this model and scenario and therefore be more likely to purchase the digipak.

The text for the digipak will be white in order to be aesthetically pleasing against the blue of the water and
to keep a strict colour scheme. Blue and white both connote peace and sadness and so this colour scheme
works well with the meaning behind the album, and the song that I am promoting, Hopeless. The fonts
that I plan on using will be a plain, block, sans-serif font in order to appeal to the teenage and young adult
audience, as this tends to be what appeals to them.

For the disk itself, I will use a close up of hands being held, in order to contract from the digipak but also
demonstrate how the album is about a relationship. As I will have shots of my models body throughout
the digipak, it will not look entirely out of place; however, in order to maintain the strict colour scheme, I
will have to edit the background and may include one of the models wearing a blue bracelet.
