Electric Load Current Sensor On-Vehicle Inspection

Battery Current
Using SUZUKI scan tool
1) Connect SUZUKI scan tool to DLC with ignition switch turned OFF.
2) Check Battery Current displayed on SUZUKI scan tool under the following conditions,
furthermore, check that value of Battery Current goes up as electric load increases.
Battery current (Reference)
Ignition switch ON: 6.5 7.5 A
Ignition switch ON, headlight ON: 18.6 19.1 A
Ignition switch ON, headlight ON and blower motor switch is HI position: 27.1 27.6
A
If check result is satisfactory, electric load current sensor is in good condition.
If check result is not satisfactory, check the following parts and circuit.
Electric load current sensor circuit (power, ground and signal)
The following charging system components:
Battery
Generator
Generator output circuit
Generator field measured signal circuit according to Step 2 under DTC P0622
Generator control signal circuit according to Step 3 under DTC P0620
If electric load current sensor circuits and charging system are in good condition, replace
electric load current sensor (1).

Without using SUZUKI scan tool

1) When ignition is OFF, disconnect electric load current sensor connector.
2) Using service wire (1), connect electric load current sensor (2) and electric load current sensor
connector (3).
3) With ignition ON, check that voltage of electric load current sensor signal circuit varies
depending on electric load.
ENG A-STOP model: Referring to Inspection of ENG A-STOP Control Module and Its Circuits
Non-ENG A-STOP model: Referring to Inspection of ECM and Its Circuits
If check result is not satisfactory, check the following parts and circuits.
Electric load current sensor circuits (power, ground and signal)
Battery negative () cable
The following charging system components:
Battery
Generator
Generator output circuit
Generator field measured signal circuit according to Step 2 under DTC P0622
Generator control signal circuit according to Step 3 under DTC P0620
If electric load current sensor circuits and charging system are in good condition, replace electric
load current sensor.

4. Electric load current sensor signal terminal

Temperature
Using ohmmeter, check resistance between terminals 2 and 3 of electric load current sensor
connector (1). If check result is not OK, replace electric load current sensor (2).
