A Mothers Influence

We all have that one person who has been an inspiration to us and for me it has been my

mother. Not only did she take responsibility of raising me up in an upright manner, she natured

me, understood my interests and made sure she supported be in my inspirations. All my life I

have had great interest in computer and art but for many young people their childhood interests

were never realized probably because of mentorship, role models, advice and support. But my

mum despite not having the best life filled this role by dedicating her time any time that she

could, struggled to ensure that I had all the necessary materials and later on hired a private art

teacher for me.

It is only after several years that I came to realize how much influence she had on me.

Her persistence and perseverance has seen her bravery overcome her own challenges but even in

the face of adversity she put always put on a happy face and shielded my siblings and I from her

pains. It is through her that I have learnt to move on after a failure and not to let myself be

defined by it. When I was 8, she lost her job and as result we lost our house because of mortgage

that she had taken a year earlier. While we moved neighborhoods and had to live with in her

friends house, she did odd jobs and worked odd hours to ensure that I continued with my art

lessons and six months later she bought me my first laptop just to ensure my aspirations were

never halted because of her being fired. Her never give up spirit is what ensured that two years

later we had a house of our own again.

The experiences have shaped my life to this day. That life does not stop and the goals and

aspirations of those that depend and look up to me should not die with me. Her accomplishments

from her humble beginnings have helped me realize that not dream is too big.
