My Philosophy
I wanted to become an early childhood teacher when I was entering late teenage years,
where I was already becoming a part of it due to my mother accumulating a family daycare,
spreading across Lancaster city. At first, I did not know why people liked children so much to
make it a job but when I started helping out, taking time to sit down, and building relationships
with children at the daycares, I realized that this field is a unique one. The kind of teaching
position I hope to obtain is childcare center director because I see leading staff and myself
supervising by designing well-thought program plans and handling budgets in a fashion that can
be an aid to a center.
coping with childrens behaviors. Due to some experience I was able to obtain, I started building
some experience, leading me to the point where my weaknesses became strength just from
learning from others, finding other strategies/techniques, and learning children more in depth.
Finding out what causes what with a specific child and how to find the resolution with effective
learning tools and techniques. Their role is to explore as much as possible, but also know that a
child can have fun and learn at the same time, sometimes children roles help the teacher if they
I believe that children learn best when music and image lesson plans are a main
part of the program, of course, every age group will learn better a different way, but from what I
have seen most children can memorize an image better than learning from a worksheet without
images. I think both of those is a great combination that can help a children fine motor skills and

sensory skills because so many lessons can be taught with just music and image lesson, it
could like activities like instrument-play, picture books, dancing, guess the image, shapes,
colors, colorful alphabets. This can be taught with small groups or even large groups depending
on how well the teacher can approach these areas, but overall these activities should be
included to allow each child to learn no matter what learning they have because again with
these type of activities a teacher can pull out so many lessons with just music and images.
The role of the teacher is to be a guide to a child path to education and building
positive relationships even if the child has not had any in the past. The teachers role is to make
the child comfortable with them and allowing a balance between letting the child explore in a
learning environment that enhances the child's capabilities. I think that teacher directed vs. child
directed learning both are important. A teacher should know when it is time to let the child
explore for itself but to not have, the child go overboard with it. There should be a balance
between both because a child builds certain skills by learning by themselves and interacting
with other children. The teacher role in a play should be to make play an educational where
physical and mental motions are working equally. The teacher should always make to make
play safe, effective, and intentional. The teacher role of play is to not only educate students but
to educate parents with a newsletter, proving how important play is in a childs life, and showing
different ways to incorporate play, not just at school or a center, but also at home.
The way I can touch special needs, different learning styles, and diversity in the
classroom is for one always keeping my classroom organized and deduct the amount of
distractions the room can possibly have. For one having, a smooth transition from one activity to
another with a song can help any children whether special or diverse into attracting them with
the transition, getting their full attention. The classroom will embrace diversity having lesson
plans that lets children interact with different cultures, having diversified books and even music
that is educational, giving the children that do come from different background a sense of
For special need children, instead of creating instructions that are hard to follow,
breaking down the instructions can help a special need child understand what you are asking
for. Also talking with shorter, simpler sentence can help a special needs child, ultimately making
them succeed in any lesson because the percentage of success is considerably higher. Making
lessons where special need child success gives them a warm sense of feeling welcome and not
having to be the child to step out of lesson in which the cannot do. Lastly, using multi-sensory
strategies can help me touch different learning styles, enabling me to get very creative with my
lesson plans and using cues that are physical and auditory.
Addressing if teacher should present new materials or should the children discover it on
their own, I believe that teachers should present most of the new materials to the children, but
also let a few materials undiscovered until the child discovers it. That way children can use their
own imagination and creativity into the material without having a teacher tell them what it is for.
Which is the reason why teacher should present most of the new materials, so children can
learn how to use materials properly and safe, it depends on materials being a danger, like
sharp, pointy ends. Out of all the learning theories I would want children to follow in my
classroom would be the Montessori Method for many reasons. This method is filled with respect
for the child, organized/prepared environment, auto education. Sensitive periods, and the
absorbent mind. Each area consists of much respect for the child, letting them explore with
material that a teacher intentionally places so children can learn while exploring. Materials
should be well thought, according to ages, characteristics, and interest in the children.
I also liked that with the method children are not cut off from time to explore and play,
that way children can get the most out of their exploring/learning time. Teachers have to be
aware that every child learns different and have different set of skills, which should enable a
teacher to figure out when is the right time to introduce new material to an individual child.
Lastly, a learning environment should always be prepared, filled with specific learning materials
that children are pleased with, and get the most out of the experience, being that this method

allows the child to learn by their self, gives them the opportunity to develop skills critical for life,
finding, communication and listening. In many instances children that are having conflicts with
other students should be handled by having a space to talk with the situation of hand, removing
the children from the scene for a brief moment, to not interrupt the lesson plan and to secondly
have an area to talk and work out a solution that will accommodate with your rules and them as
well. Prior for management, group rules should be a great method to result in less conflicts,
having the child grip an understanding of the group rules and what happens if a child does not
follow them, like every child shows respect to one another, we all share, we use indoor voices,
we listen to the teacher without interruption, and there is always a solution to any conflict.
Some ways I can include families into my classroom is to first show that you care for
their child as much as they do, showing respect and starting small talk can show that you are
interested in communicating with them. Making lessons plans that can encourage family
members to participate in the classroom. Showing gratitude towards parents and informing them
in areas like the importance of play and giving some talks about areas can enhance
communication. If there is, a language/culture barrier showing your close relationship with their
child gives them a sense that you are treating their child like any other will enhance relationship
as well.
