Geometry Explorer is a computer software that allows students to model and experiment with
different geometric figures. There are also multiple types of geometry that students can choose to
work in: Euclidean, Hyperbolic, Elliptic, Spherical, Analytic, Transformational, Fractal, and
Turtle. Furthermore, there are measure and calculate tools so that students can quickly find the
area, distance, length, angle measurement, etc. of a geometric figure. Students can use Geometry
Explorer as an exploratory tool to become familiar with the different types of geometry. In the
classroom, students can use the program to model constructions before drawing them on paper.
The program will also allow them to manipulate the figures themselves and give a visual
representation of real world problems involving geometric figures.

complex applications of circles. There are visuals and proofs given with each statement. Also,
the author has linked extension and exploratory activities throughout the text that can be easily

Khan Academy is well known for its instructional videos throughout the education
curriculum, primarily in mathematics. It uses a variety of online tools for students to use and
further their learning/understanding to a higher level. This particular unit listed above gives a full
lesson plan on the basics of trigonometry and has five other sections as well. Khan Academy is
very popular to students who are stuck on certain concepts and this provides an alternative style
of learning to students who are struggling to learn in class. The practice tests on the site can be
very helpful in assessing students to make sure they understand the material. Completion of these
lessons does give students a sense of accomplishment and pushes them more to do as many
lessons as they can. Khan Academy can also be used to give students assignments preparing
them for a new topic that will be discussed in class.

School Yourself is an interactive site that is similar to Khan Academy in which it teaches
material as if it were an interactive lecture. This may also provide students with an alternative
style of learning with using this site. One thing that attracts me about this source is that when
someone answers a question wrong, the lesson will give a brief lesson on the understanding of
what the original question was asking. This really caters to where students struggle and this tool
can help them understand what has been said. It gives clear instructions and lessons and is very
easy to understand with a narrator and images that are representative of what is being said. This
would be a very good study tool when test time comes around or if students finish work early
and can be introduced to what will be taught in the next class.

Khan Academy is a very useful and reliable source. This video gives a very solid and
thorough explanation of what independent and dependent events in probability. It walks the
view through what makes probability events independent and what makes others dependent. I
can use this in my classroom by having students watch it the night before it is covered in class so
that the students are well prepared for the material when the come into class the following day. I
can also use this by having it readily available for students to watch in a google classroom (or
something similar) for students who need to review or wish to review before a test.

Purple math is a website that is great for almost any math topic. It gives a great explanation of
mean, median, mode and the reasons behind why we use them. It also goes through how to find
each of them and provides step by step examples of how to find them. I can use this in my
classroom by having my students get out their chromebooks and read about mean, median, and
mode on their and then use their MathHelp to work through problems. I can also have this as a
tool for students who want extra material or help so that they have alternative resources at their
disposal that they can use.

IXL is a multidiscipline resource designed for pre-k to 12 grade students; the Mathematics
th

section even includes up to calculus. The grade levels are further broken down into subsections
that cover all of the Virginia standards. The site quizzes the students with a variety of questions
including multiple choice and fill-in blanks; which I particularly like for an Algebra 1 or 2
classroom. IXL will cater to the student and quiz appropriate questions to match their knowledge
to scaffold learning, their scores are shared with the teacher. I would use this as reinforcement
and refreshment in my classroom. Some ways I would utilize IXL would be after quizzes, tests,
remaining class time, and homework.

Math Is Fun is a website dedicated to math. The Algebra tab includes Algebra 1 and 2 with a
table of contents covering a wide range of Virginia standards. The topics include explanations
and a few examples. I would use this website as a recommended source for students to reference.
It can be used as a study guide or for problem solving help.
