Q: Who is eligible to apply for the Postdoctoral Research Program?


A: The Postdoctoral Research Program offers assistance to junior scholars who are foreign nationals
residing abroad and have a recently-received PhD in the humanities, social sciences, or arts and
culture on a Korea-related topic.

A: The Korea Foundations fellowship support is provided only to students with non-Korean
citizenship (or permanent residency status of a foreign country).

A: The KF Fellowship for Postdoctoral Research program is provided only to students who will be

A: The program application period depends on your region and is based on the following schedule.

Q: How should the letter of reference be submitted?


A: After an applicant files an online application, the KFs Online Application Portal System
automatically will send an email to the recommender specified by the applicant. The email requests
that the recommender write a letter of reference and upload it onto the KF URL. Therefore, applicants
should inform their recommenders of this before beginning the application process.

Fellowship recipients can receive the KF Postdoctoral Research Fellowship only once.

A: The affiliated institution is responsible for providing postdoctoral fellows with office space, library
access, and the necessary practical and administrative assistance to facilitate their academic
exchanges with faculty and their research activities.

Q: Can a fellowship recipient receive concurrent assistance from other sources?


Fellowship recipients may not hold concurrent fellowships from the Foundation and a third-party
institution. Please be aware that if a fellowship recipient receives a scholarship from a third-party
institution, he or she will have to return the grant provided by the Foundation.
