As you may already know, Question 1 - a statewide initiative requiring criminal background checks for all gun sales, with reasonable
exceptions for family, hunting, and self-defense - passed into law with a majority of Nevada voters' support. The resulting law, which
some call the Background Check Act, should have taken effect on January 1st, but after nearly one year, Governor Brian Sandoval is
still refusing to implement it.

Now I'm going to read some statements about Governor Sandoval's refusal to implement the new law requiring background checks on
all gun sales, and I'd like to know how each impacts your feelings toward Governor Sandoval. Here's the first statement...

More (No LESS

[LOOPHOLE] The new voter-approved background check law would close
loopholes that make it easy for felons, domestic abusers, and other
dangerous people to buy guns online and at gun shows. Governor
Sandoval's refusal to implement the law means this loophole is still wide
open, allowing anyone to easily buy a gun, no questions asked. ....................................................................................
45% 16 17 16 5 62

[FORM A] [PERSONAL OPINIONS] Governor Sandoval personally opposes

background checks for all gun sales. In 2013, he vetoed a bill that would
have closed the background check loophole here in Nevada. Even after
Nevadans voted background checks into law, Governor Sandoval is still
refusing to implement the law because he personally disagrees with it. .......................................................................
43% 19 21 12 5 62

[SPECIAL INTEREST] In 2013, Governor Sandoval received thousands in

donations from gun groups like the NRA soon after he vetoed background
checks on all gun sales. Now, after the gun lobby spent $6.5 million fighting
background checks in Nevada, he is refusing to implement the voter-
approved background check law. ...............................................................................................................................................
39% 21 20 15 5 60

[POLICE RISK/ADVICE] Police and law enforcement around the state support
the voter-approved background check law, because it protects Nevadans,
our police, and our law enforcement. In fact, in states with similar laws,
fewer police are killed in the line of duty. Governor Sandoval is ignoring the
advice of Nevada's law enforcement experts by refusing to implement this
law. ........................................................................................................................................................................................................
39% 21 18 16 5 61

[DANGER] As governor, it's Brian Sandoval's job to protect the people of

Nevada. But since Sandoval took office, Nevada's murder rate has risen by
38 percent, robberies with guns have risen by 27 percent, and aggravated
assaults with a firearm have risen by 45 percent. Meanwhile Sandoval
refuses to implement the voter-approved background check law that would
help keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people. ......................................................................................................
38% 19 16 21 6 57

[WILL OF THE PEOPLE] After a long debate, the majority of Nevadans voted
for and passed a law to close the background check loophole. Nevada
voters have spoken. Governor Sandoval is ignoring the will of the people by
refusing to implement this voter-approved law.......................................................................................................................

[NOT DOING HIS JOB] It is Governor Sandoval's job to implement the law of
the land. By refusing to implement the voter-approved background check
law, Governor Sandoval is refusing to fulfill his duties as governor of
