Purpose/Objectives: Students will be able to choose and match corresponding pictures to words and
transfer words from verbal to nonverbal modes. The following micro-skill will be utilized: Recognize
a core of words and their significance.

Purpose/Objectives: Students will apply semantic clues and syntax to sort words into concepts. The
following micro-skill will be utilized: Recognize a core of words and interpret word
order patterns and their significance. The following macro-skill will be utilized: Infer context that is
not explicit by activating schemata (using background knowledge).

Directions in student-friendly language: Read each word carefully. Sort the words into matching
groups. Each group will have three words.

Scoring: Each answer is worth 1 point.
