Verification for wind resonance of constructions with circular-cylindrical

form

1. The verification is performed for wind critical velocity vcr,i within the
limits 20 wm < cr,i < 25 m/s (wm is the wind pressure normative value as per
art.94, kN/m2).
2. Wind critical speed vcr,i, which causes construction site resonance
vibrations in direction, perpendicular to wind direction, can be determined
according to the formula:
d . fi
vcr ,i = = 5.d . f i (7.1),
Sh
where:
fi is the frequency of the constructions i form of vibration;
Sh the number of Struhal (for circular cross section Sh = 0,2);
d diameter of the cylinder cross section, m; for constructions with weak
conicity (for slope of the generant toward the vertical axis up to 0,01) the diameter
is determined from the section at level 2/3 of the height.
3. For verification for wind resonance the amplitude of the aerodynamic
force F(z) in kN/m at level z for the i vibration form is determined according to the
formula:
Fi ( z ) = F0,i ( z ).ai ( z ) (7.2),
where:
ai ( z ) is the relative ordinate of the i vibration form;

F0,i ( z ) = C y .wcr ,i .d - the amplitude of the aerodynamic force for the level of the

free end of constructions of console type or at the middle of the between-support

distance of a cylindrical mast with guys (shrouds); for constructions of console
type only the first form of vibration may be read;
2
wcr ,i = 6, 25.104.vcr2 ,i - wind pressure in kN/m , for critical velocity vcr ,i , m/s;

39
C y - coefficient for cross force, which is assumed equal to 0,25.

4. The resonance efforts and displacements of the construction at level z can

be determined according to the formula:

X res ( Z ) = .X (Z ) (7.3),
s
where:
X s ( Z ) is the displacement, bending moment or cross force, determined for

action of the statically applied load Fi ( z ) ; for guyed masts for design value Fi ( z ) is
assumed the greatest of the values, obtained for the different critical velocities vcr ,i ,
whereupon the number of vibration forms is assumed not greater than four;
- vibrations logarithmic decrement, which for the verification for wind
resonance may be assumed equal to:
) for reinforced concrete and masonry facilities - 0,30;
b) for steel apparatuses, installed over reinforced concrete pedestals - 0,15;
c) for masts and internally coated steel stacks - 0,10;
d) for facilities with steel structures - 0,05.
5. The design value of the wind load static component along wind
direction wcr , s , which corresponds to critical velocity pressure wcr ,i may be assumed
constant along construction height and to be determined according to the formula:

wcr,x = wcr,i.cx (7.4),

where cx is the coefficient for front resistance, which is assumed as per diagram
No. 14 from table 8.2 of attachment No. 8.
The wind load pulsation component wcr , p , which corresponds to the critical
velocity pressure wcr ,i , is determined as per art. 97, 98, 99 and 100. For the
constructions, indicated in it. 4, letters b and c, the coefficient of dynamicity i
is assumed as per the curve 2 on fig. 4 to art. 97, par. 1.

6. During verification for wind resonance it is allowed not to take into
account other short-time loads.
7. The design values of the efforts and displacements for construction
resonance are determined as per the formula:

X ( Z ) = X res ( Z ) 2 + X s ( Z ) 2 + X d ( Z )2 (7.5),
where:
X res ( Z ) is the displacement, bending moment or cross force, determined

according to formula (7.3);

X s ( Z ) and X d ( Z ) - as well, but calculated from the loads wcr , s and wcr , p .
