While shepherds kept their watching

Oer silent flocks by night,

Behold, throughout the heavens

There shown a holy light

Go tell it on the mountain

Over the hills and everywhere!

Go tell it on the mountain

That Jesus Christ is born!
The shepherds feared and trembled

When, lo, above the earth

Rang out the angel chorus
That hailed our Saviors birth
Go tell it on the mountain

Over the hills and everywhere!

Go tell it on the mountain

That Jesus Christ is born!
Down in a lowly manger
Our humble Christ was born

And God sent us salvation

That blessed Christmas morn

Go tell it on the mountain

Over the hills and everywhere!

Go tell it on the mountain

That Jesus Christ is
Go tell it on the mountain

Over the hills and everywhere!

Go tell it on the mountain

That Jesus Christ is born!

Go Tell It On the Mountain

How my happy heart rejoices
I can hear the angel voices
"Christ is born" they all are singing
From the sky this good news bringing
Let the earth rejoice
O come and lift your voices
Christ the Lord is born today
He came from heaven's throne
God is born a man today
To bring His children home
To bring His children home
Death and darkness surely tremble
Light has come to all the people
The Lion comes to crush the serpent
He comes a Lamb, a lowly servant
Let the earth rejoice
O come and lift your voices
Christ the Lord is born today
He came from heaven's throne
God is born a man today
To bring His children home
To bring His children home
God has sent His greatest treasure
Shown His love in greatest measure
Sending Christ to bleed and suer
Purchasing our joy forever
Let the earth rejoice
O come and lift your voices
Christ the Lord is born today
He came from heaven's throne
God is born a man today
To bring His children home
Christ the Lord is born today
He came from heaven's throne
God is born a man today
To bring His children home
To bring His children home

Away in a manger,

no crib for a bed,

The little Lord Jesus

laid down His sweet head.

The stars in the sky

looked down where He lay,

The little Lord Jesus,

asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing,

the Baby awakes,

But little Lord Jesus,

no crying He makes;

I love Thee, Lord Jesus,

look down from the sky

And stay by my cradle

till morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus,

I ask Thee to stay

Close by me forever,

and love me, I pray;

Bless all the dear children

in Thy tender care,

And fit us for Heaven

to live with Thee there.

Away in a manger,

no crib for a bed,

The little Lord Jesus

laid down His sweet head.

The stars in the sky

looked down where He lay,

The little Lord Jesus,

asleep on the hay.

O sleep.

Advent Reading Gods Promise: Salvation Will Come through My Servant

Last week we lit the third advent candle. We were

reminded of Gods promise fulfilled in the birth of a
king in Bethlehem. This week we light the fourth
advent candle, and see Gods promise that salvation
will come through His servant.
Isaiah 42:1-7

Behold my servant, whom I uphold,

my chosen, in whom my soul delights;

I have put my Spirit upon him;

he will bring forth justice to the nations.

He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice,

or make it heard in the street;

a bruised reed he will not break,

and a faintly burning wick he will not quench;

he will faithfully bring forth justice.

He will not grow faint or be discouraged

till he has established justice in the earth;

and the coastlands wait for his law.

Thus says God, the Lord,

who created the heavens and stretched them out,

who spread out the earth and what comes from it,

who gives breath to the people on it

and spirit to those who walk in it:

I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness;

I will take you by the hand and keep you;

I will give you as a covenant for the people,

a light for the nations,

to open the eyes that are blind,

to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon,

from the prison those who sit in darkness.

(ESV)
Isaiah prophesied that the Lords chosen servant will
open the eyes that are blind, and not grow faint or
be discourage till he has established justice in the
earth. Gods promises are trustworthy and true.
Jesus was born of a virgin, became a king in the line
of David, had Gods Spirit rest on him, was crushed
for our sin, was buried in a right mans tomb, and
because he rose again from the dead will return to
judge the earth.
Gods plan to reach the nations, first revealed to
Abraham, then prophesied by Isaiah, and then
announced by Simeon, is fulfilled when Jesus returns.
We anticipate His return and see a glimpse of this
fulfillment from the apostle John in Revelation 7:10.
As people from every nation are standing before the
throne, crying out to Jesus the Lamb, Salvation
belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and To
him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be
blessing and honor and glory and might forever and
ever!
Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing oer the plains,
And the mountains in reply
Echo back their joyous strains.

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
Say what may the tidings be
Which inspire your heavnly song?

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Come to Bethlehem and see
Him Whose birth the angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee,
Christ the Lord, the newborn King.

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
See Him in a manger laid,
Jesus, Lord of heavn and earth!
Mary, Joseph, lend your aid,
With us sing our Saviors birth.

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

The first Noel

the angel did say,

Was to certain

poor shepherds
in fields as they lay;
In fields where they

lay keeping their sheep,

On a cold winters night
that was so deep.
They looked up

and saw a star

Shining in the east,

beyond them far,

And to the earth

it gave great light,

And so it continued

both day and night.

Born is the King of Israel.
Then let us all

with one accord

sing praises to our

heavenly Lord
who hath made heavn
and earth of naught,
And with His blood
mankind hath bought.

Born is the King of Israel.
