1. What are your goals and objectives for this lesson?

My goals for this lesson are to teach a math lesson where I am able to give my students another
strategy to solve problems. I plan to successfully teach how to use doubles minus one as well as
doubles plus one as a strategy for solving addition problems within 20.

2. What are some specific things you would like observed?

I would like the way in which I manage the time when students are supposed to be working
independently observed. I also want to know if I adapted and applied previous suggestions from
previous lessons appropriately and if the independent practice is more appropriate for their
levels. My classroom management skills are something I also feel like I may need work on.

3. Strengths to continue to build on:

Great job activating prior knowledge! I like how you had the students change the non-doubles
fact to a doubles fact. You had some great questioning during the video! It made the students
think about the lesson and use the vocabulary. You did a wonderful job going with the flow and
adapting during your lesson. Sometime students catch on quickly and you just have to be able to
adjust and make the lesson what the students need. Great modeling and explanation!

4. Suggestions for future lessons:

Something I would work on is a way to have students not yell out. One way to do this is to say
who can raise their hand and tell me why? You are doing a great job! Just keep working on
classroom management. Give clear direction when you want them to transition, make sure they
arent yelling out, making sure theyre all focused, etc.)
