GMU Interface Board

The GMU interface board is a functional board in the DG control system, also a printed
circuit board (PCB) that connects the GMU, engine, generator, and host. It performs
driving, protection, and communication functions. The GMU interface board unites the GMU,
integrated cabinet, and DG.
Figure 1 shows a GMU interface board, and Table 1 describes its functions.

Table 1 Function description

Function Description
Intelligent fuel
Monitors the fuel level, door status sensor on the fuel tank cover, and
tank data
water intrusion in real time and reports monitored data to the ECC500.
collection
Determines alarm generation and clearance in real time after monitoring
input analog parameters, input digital parameters, as well as the data
and alarms reported by the GMU, and implements management as
Alarm detection follows:
and management If a major or critical alarm is generated, the GMU turns on the
Alarm indicator and reports the data to the ECC500.
If an alarm is cleared, the GMU turns off the Alarm indicator
and reports the data to the ECC500.

Communicates with the ECC500 over RS485 in half-duplex

mode and reports its status to the ECC500.
Communication
Converts a route of RS232 signals into half-duplex RS485
signals which are then linked to the RS485 bus.

Supports scheduled oil addition at a default interval of 2 hours.

Automatic oil The interval can be set on the host, such as the ECC500.
addition Implements scheduled oil pump startup.

The DG is equipped with a device for preheating the intake air. At low
Startup at low
temperatures, intake air will be preheated for 15 seconds before the
temperatures
motor starts.
E-label Stores electronic labels.

Typical Application Scenarios

The GMU interface board is installed in the DG control compartment. Figure 2 shows its
external connections, and Table 2 provides its pin definitions.

This topic lists the parameters that can be set on the GMU LCD.

NOTICE:

GMU parameters are set before the DG is delivered and cannot be modified when
the DG is running.
To modify GMU parameters during DG inspection, maintenance, or repair, consult
Huawei and obtain Huawei's consent.
A password is required for modifying GMU parameters. After installing and
commissioning the DG, change the GMU password and keep it properly.
Maintenance and repair personnel can use the password only after being
authorized by the customer.
