I think that education is the foundation that learning is based on. Receiving a quality

education at a school should be the focus of every parent for their child from Pre-K to college. A

parent should investigate the school that their child will be attending to ensure that the school is

teaching what is necessary to keep their childs education on an appropriate developmental level.

The school should offer tutoring and other learning resources to help children to obtain

the proper education needed. Education can be obtained in a school environment, in the

community, a religious environment and most of all in a childs home environment.

Education is a necessary tool along with encouragement, guidance and the appropriate

information to provide the standards needed to become proficient in the world and in society

today. School systems should provide a quality education for students of all abilities, disabilities,

and to the students who may have barriers to language or any special needs a student may have.

There should not be any personal biases in the classroom environment. An education without

biases gives a child a chance to succeed in school, life and beyond.

My thoughts on teaching are that teachers should challenge children to reach their full

potential and educational goals by allowing them to use their curious minds and nature to add on

their prior knowledge and learning. Teachers should meet their needs by welcoming all of them

and their families, without biases of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation; socio-economic status,

abilities or disabilities and of those that may need English as a second language. Teachers should

take into consideration all of these things when creating their lesson plans, adjusting them as

needed.

A quality teacher is one that uses all of the knowledge and experiences that they have

obtained during their elementary education.

A quality teacher will make sure that their classroom is conducive for learning. They will be

soft-spoken with a positive attitude, kind-hearted, caring, nurturing, respectful, sensitive, and

polite with a genuine passion for learning and teaching children. Teachers should an expectation

for the success for all of the children in their classroom which can be easily accomplished

without frustration or failure.

A good teacher will have been properly trained in Ivy Tech Community Colleges

Elementary Education program. They will use the sharp observational skills to assess the needs

of every child in their classroom. Whenever a teacher needs assistance about something they are

not sure of, they will seek that knowledge from others who have experience in the elementary

education field.

Teachers should attend continuing education classes so that they can keep up with changing

curriculums in their field. They will guide children properly by providing children with

stimulating activities that will encourage them to do their very best. A teachers curriculum will

be centered on the needs of the children in their classroom and will include activities that make

learning, fun and exciting. Their classroom will allow children to practice, obtain and master all

of the skills needed to become successful in their education.

Teachers should be sensitive the emotional, psychological, social and physical needs.

Observing them and their parents, while consciously being aware of what they may be feeling,

showing or dealing with, while remembering to respect them and their privacy. Teachers will

consistently use the guidelines, rules and regulations that have been set forth by the facility that

they teach at.
