b: Instructional Steps:

1. Play a variety of different weather sounds. Ask students to guess what weather it is. Ask
students to talk about what they heard that makes them think it is a certain weather type.
2. Introduce the word soundscape with an anchor chart.
3. Explain to students that they will be working in groups to create a soundscape about
weather.
4. Review the instruments that students could use to make their soundscape.
5. Place students into groups. Give each group a weather picture and a few instruments.
6. Students will work in groups to create a soundscape for the weather picture they received
using the instruments provided.
7. While students are working, the teacher will walk around to ask probing questions.
8. Students will come back together to perform their soundscape.

Teacher will walk around to each group and ask probing questions if students are stuck. Teacher will
ask students to explain why they chose the sounds they did for their soundscape.
