Rationale Statement-Standard # 8
Rationale Statement:
English Language Arts lesson designed to teach the print concepts of the letters A, B and
C. This specifically correlates to standard 8.i.5, The teacher provides multiple models
teaching strategies and sources all geared towards teaching how to print capital and
lower case letters A, B and C. A YouTube video of the alphabet song and videos of how
lesson. Stations were set up around the room for students to demonstrate what they
had learned from the videos and practice printing letter on their own. By having three

stations for students to experiment printing the letters, it showed students that the
concepts they were learning could be applied to more than just pen and paper as
demonstrated in the finger paint sensory bag station. As the teacher I moved freely
around the room from station to station, assisting students in any area they needed. I
felt confident conducting my lesson and received very positive feedback from
students at the conclusion of the lesson. I plan to use this model lesson in my future
classroom and will make the appropriate modifications needed to address students
abilities.
