REFLECTION PAPER #6
The last day of the seminar I flew over the sister islands, Little Cayman. I had the

opportunity to interview Mr. Clamp from the Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI) and

visited Little Cayman Museum. The first session of the day I attended was CCMI. According to

Clamp (2017), CCMI do three essential things, they research, conserve, and educate about the

ocean life. CCMI goal is to understand better what is causing the decline in the health of the

coral reef ecosystem and what could contribute to a more resilient reef. They have two coral

nurseries just outside of their research station. Clamp (2017) stated that researchers at the CCMI

work to continually improve nursery-rearing techniques to produce healthy, resilient staghorn

and elkhorn coral (Clamp J., November 18, 2017).

The coral species in Little Cayman are essential to building a reef framework. Coral

fragments from the nursery are out-planted on the reefs around Little Cayman to help sustain the

unique reef habitat. Clamp (2017) further explained the CCMI is generously supported by grants

from the Consolidated Water Company, the Disney Conservation Fund, and the Dart Foundation,

among other private donors. Although, charities cover the majority of the expenses in the

research center (Clamp J., November 18, 2017).

Little Cayman is a colorful, pleasant, peaceful, place to live or visit. The visit to the

museum was a great decision to learn more about Little Cayman heritage and the island itself.

The Little Cayman Museum has grown out of the personal collection of Linton and Polly

Tibbetts. Mr. Tibbetts known to many as Mr. T. He also was known for preserving the Sister

Islands cultural tradition. The museum new building combines the collections of the previous

Little Cayman Museum and the Maritime Museum. The tour guide of the museum explained that

she is working on a vast project for the Little Cayman rock iguana safety.

REFLECTION PAPER #6
Both places in Little Cayman are highly crucial for the neighbors and visitors to conserve

the island protection and well-being. Managing the environmental issues on the island is the

principal key for the security of the ecosystem and businesses. Every company on this tourist

destination have ethics and ethicals reasoning for good human relationships.
