The first firm we visited for this trip was Cayman Enterprise City (CEC). I have learned

that CEC has an executive agreement with the Cayman Islands government until 2016 and their

primary objective is to bring direct foreign investment to the country. So far, they have produced

over 200 new businesses for the island, and they have four buildings which include two data

centers (Cahill, 2017).

This session can be related business and society because the CEC has created firms for

the Cayman Islands which can employ persons from the communities. Also, the textbook speaks

about foreign direct investment which is an essential aspect of globalization which occur when

companies, individuals, or firm invests money in another country (Lawrence, 2014, p.118).

The second firm we went to was Dart Enterprise. I have learned that 69% of the

employees that work for Dart enterprise are Caymanians, they have a code of conduct policy, and

they take part in breast awareness day (McTaggart, 2017). Hence, Dart Enterprise can relate to

business and society because they create jobs within the Cayman Islands that are available for

Caymanians and they give back to communities.

Also, the book stated that the code of conduct main aim is to comply with codes to show

regulators, customers, investors, and others that they have met specific environmental standards

in their operations (Lawrence, 2014, p.229).

Lastly, we went to Tower Marketing; one of the largest communications agencies in the

Cayman Islands. They value their clients, are very active in the communities, they do

fundraisers, educational events, and charities (Costello, 2017). Again, this is related to business

and society because they market various companies and give back to communities. In fact, the

book stated that the term civic engagement could describe Tower Market because they are

involved in changing and improving communities (Lawrence, 2014, p.405).
