PSI Practicum Goals

Goal #1:
I will incorporate a variety (2-3 different) teacher resources into
each one of my lesson plans.

From the modules many teacher resources have been provided and effective use of
these resources is necessary to student learning and specifically differentiation.
From lesson planning I did not provide many resources but rather depended upon my
brain.

Reflection and Evidence of Success:


In the modules this goal was going to seem like a challenge for myself.
Stepping into a classroom I soon realized that there are resources and
tools for teachers everywhere. This goal was accomplished without much
thought or work. Evidence of success can be found in a variety of my
lesson plans when I incorporated different resources and different tools for
the students to learn. An example of this is when I had to teach the
students how to use IPad camera in the class. I did this with the use of the
mirroring option on the classroom smart board. This lesson went really
well and this is only one way I incorporated different resources into the
classroom.

Where I would still like to improve: It was easy to find a variety of resources
for the students. The hard part happens when trying to decide which
resource is the best. Or which idea should be followed to benefit the
students learning. I feel that this is an ongoing issue for those who are
already teaching.

Goal #2:
I will incorporate FNMI perspective or content into at least one of
my lessons.

Rationale: (link to KSAs and/or to learning from PSI campus modules)


This is a very important topic that needs to be incorporated into the classroom. To
help benefit my career-long learning trying to incorporated FNMI is very important.
From our class modules this became very apparent and I want to challenge myself to
incorporate 1 lesson into the classroom.

Reflection and Evidence of Success:


This topic could be incorporated into a few different subjects. For my
practicum I had taught a lot of Social Studies. In these Social classes the
students were learning about Iqaluit. In a few lessons I made the
connection to the culture and traditions of the Inuit community. I even had
the students participate in traditional games.

Where I would still like to improve: I feel that this topic could be
incorporated into a variety of subjects. In future classes I would like to
incorporate FNMI into a variety of subjects and not limit myself to Social
Studies.

Goal #3:
I will incorporate different classroom management technics and
skills to determine which is most relevant and reliable to myself
as an educator.

Rationale: After my first week of practicum I feel that a classroom management


goal is necessary for my personal growth as an educator. I am a very funny, easy
going person. Being able to balance that care free side while guiding students in
focused activities is going to be a challenge to learn. I will try to implement different
strategies to see which I am most comfortable with and also which work best with the
students.

Reflection and Evidence of Success:


I created this goal after the first week of practicum because I felt like
classroom management was a weakness I had. I feel I have grown
tremendously with this goal. I have learned so many things from my
teacher associate and they have noticed growth in this area (on evaluation
report). I have also noticed that every class is different and students
respond in very unique ways. I feel ever teacher can continue to work on
managing students in the classroom.

Where I would still like to improve: In PS II I will be incorporating another


classroom management goal. This is an area where I would like to continue
to improve throughout career as an educator.
