Mechanics, Contest Rules and Criteria for Judging

Logo Designing Contest

MECHANICS & CONTEST RULES:

1. This logo designing contest is an individual art competition.


2. Only youth member of all ___________________________________ is entitled to join the said
contest.
3. Only one entry per contestant is allowed.
4. Contestants are to design a logo that will best represent the theme:

5. Contestant are free to decide on the size and dimensional perspective of the logo but should only use
an A4 (210x297) size white paper as ground or support medium. Also, the logo shape i.e. circular, square,
oval, rectangular or otherwise is the artist’s prerogative.
6. Each contestant are free to use one or a combination of any of the following art media: chalk pastel,
charcoal, colored pencil, crayons, graphite and graphite pencils, marker, oil pastel, pen and ink, acrylic
paint, enamel paint, latex paint, magna paint, oil paint, aqueous pigments, dyes and watercolor.
7. Computer-aided graphics design is acceptable in image processing (i.e. drawing using the computer)
as long as it is in two-dimensional form and NOT in three-dimensional graphics design form.

9. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable!

C RITERIA FOR J UDGING

i. Originality & Creativity – this considers the artist’s original concept of the composition as well as the
creativity that involves in the conception of such.
ii. Craftsmanship & Use Medium and Texture – this considers the artist’s choice and appropriate use of
materials, media and textures as well as his skill in the use of such materials and media.
iii. Elements of Art & Use of Space - this considers the artist’s combination of artistic elements and forms
such as line, color combination and hues, color texture, shapes , volume expressed of the art work as
well as the perspective and its mass.
iv. Composition & Unity and Variety - this considers the artist’s effective use of forms or abstract
techniques, the balance and harmony of elements, repetitions, visual rhythm, proportion as well as
considering the appropriate use of materials and textures
v. Symbolism and Message Conveyed – this considers if the composition was able to capture in symbolic
representation the theme and able to convey that meaning in the art work.
vi. Presentation & Over-all Impression - considers if the composition refers to developing points of
interest to pull the viewer's eye to important parts of the body of the work, and the over-all
appearance of the finished art work.
