JOB SUMMARY

The Business Analyst (BA) for Wolters Kluwer FS Risk & Compliance has primary responsibility for leading
product development activity. The BAs responsibilities include

Interact with the Product Owner/SME and clearly understand the reporting requirements,
Provide Estimates for functional tasks related with the report development,
Conduct detailed analysis of reports and comprehend the regulatory guidelines pertaining to
such reporting,
Translating the regulatory guidelines into functional specifications i.e. Data Mapping, Allocation
Design and creation of functional specification document (FSD),
Developing the report in proprietary report development tool,
Collaborating with Technical Analyst during product development,
Creating functional test scenarios and scenario based test data,
Testing the reports from a functional point of view,
Creating detailed end user documentation pertaining to their job areas,
Providing active support during PVT/SIT/UAT phase and resolving customer issues post
implementation.

Typically, BAs work in a fast paced environment and play a key role in building the software
products/applications. Apart from the above; they are expected to collaborate with Product Management
and SQA team in resolving issues and ensuring smooth delivery of product. BA activities include learning
and maintaining a thorough understanding of the applications involved in; assisting in the planning phase
of the projects; managing and participating in the analysis, design, and test phases of the projects;
assisting the technical team to resolve issues; and representing Wolters Kluwer within the industry.

Specific responsibilities and requirements follow.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Interacting with the Product Owner/SME and clearly understand the reporting requirements. The BA is
expected to liaise with the Product Owner/SME and comprehend the precise reporting requirements, high
level analysis as done by the Product Owner/SME and understand the broad design of the application. He/she
shall get doubts clarified from the Product Owner/SME before proceeding with the further stages of product
development.

Provide Estimates for functional tasks related with the report development: Provide/Help in estimating
development effort for functional tasks.

Conduct detailed analysis of reports. The BA shall conduct in-depth analysis of the reports and thoroughly
familiarize him/herself with the regulatory guidelines pertaining to such reporting. The BA shall conduct
accurate item by item analysis of the report keeping in mind the high level analysis and the broad design of
the product. The BA should be in a position to conduct such analysis independently. The BA shall be a
repository of such knowledge and single point of contact (SPOC) for clarification of functional issues by other
development team members.

Translating the regulatory guidelines into functional specifications, The BA shall draw upon her/ his
analytical ability to ensure comprehensiveness and detail level articulation in analyzing and specifying of
functional details. On the basis of such analysis the BA should be in a position to independently prepare the
detailed functional specification document (FSD) for the reports. She/he may be called upon to provide
walkthrough of the FSD for technical team as per need.

Developing the report in proprietary report development tool, Post finalization of the FSD the BA shall
proceed to develop the report in the proprietary tool starting with report layout, framing the functional
specifications as per the format understood by the tool. She/ He are expected to be proficient in this tool
and MS Office Suite to successfully perform her/ his duties.

Collaborating with Technical Analyst during Product development, The BA must possess ability to
communicate functional level details to technical analysts and solution developers to support transition,
translation and development. He shall serve as an in-house subject matter expert in issues arising out of
functional areas.

Creating functional test scenarios and scenario based test data; The BA is expected to formulate test cases
based on actual business scenario. Such test cases shall be documented by the BA in a report wise Functional
test case document which covers the scenario, data point identifier, expected output, actual output & test
case status. She/ He shall then proceed to create the item-wise test data based on the above business
scenarios.

Testing the reports from a functional point of view, Post creation of test scenarios and test data the BA
shall test the reports by simulating a client end run of the software/application. He shall compare the
expected output and actual output and account for differences in an elaborate and item-wise manner. Based
on the testing results the BA may be required to initiate changes in product i.e. functional specifications etc.
after due concurrence from the applicable stakeholders. She/ He shall liaise with technical team to iron out
functional errors arising due to technical issues. After completion of this phase the BA shall document the
findings of the testing in the aforesaid Functional test case document and share it with relevant stakeholders.

Creating detailed end user documentation pertaining to their job areas, The BA shall prepare end user
documents such as interfacing guide, dictionaries, release notes, testing documents etc to ensure optimum
customer satisfaction and compliance with company standards. The BA may be required by his/ her
supervisor to assist in preparing any other documentation as required by stakeholders from time to time

Providing active support during PVT/SIT/UAT phase and resolving customer issues post implementation,
The BA shall be involved in the product validation testing/software integration testing/user acceptance
testing of the product and provide clarifications/solutions to meet requirements where she/ he would be
expected to demonstrate her/ his ability to quickly troubleshoot and establish functional issues in production,
solution testing, etc. Post successful implementation of the product the BA shall provide maintenance support
from a functional point of view and ensure continued success of the product.

Liaise with Other Teams, The BA shall collaborate with other teams e.g., product management, technical,
SQA, Platform Services, Professional Services etc. to ensure overall success of the project. She/ He may be
required to participate at project meetings and on weekly updates; managing the processes and procedures
within the Functional domain; employing standard project methodology and templates, customized for each
projects unique needs; adhering to project timelines and project plans; identifying potential risks that could
endanger project milestones; ensuring proper escalation of issues.

Other responsibilities, The BA shall engaged in formal and informal training; participate in self-directed
learning; study product Knowledge Acquisition documents; maintain knowledge of industry standards,
methodologies, processes, and best practices; establish and maintain competence in current and planned
versions of products; work with the product to establish and maintain competence in demonstrating, using,
troubleshooting, and issue resolution; learn about the various service offerings available.

Representing Wolters Kluwer by developing and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of Wolters Kluwer
products, industry and technical trends, and general business and financial acumen through various sources
and initiative; communicating with customers in a compelling and articulate manner in both verbal and
written conversations and presentations; behaving in ways that demonstrate corporate core values and
culture; developing professional and positive relationships with customers and colleagues; and maintaining
a reputation of competence, integrity and professionalism.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Minimum:
Bachelors Degree in Economics/Accounting/Banking
B.Tech/B.E with Post Graduate qualification in Finance (MBA/CFA/FRM/PRM etc.)

Experience, Knowledge and Tools


Minimum Experience:

6 and above years relevant work experience where minimum 4 years in a in a Bank/FI
(Regulatory Reporting/ Financial Reporting/ Corporate Credit) plus minimum 2 years in IT
(Banking domain only)

OR

7 and above years relevant work experience in a Bank/FI (Regulatory Reporting/ Financial
Reporting/ Corporate Credit)

Excluding Candidates from Bank back offices & candidates from Transformation and/or
Change departments

The candidate must possess the following:

Advanced Knowledge of Banking & Finance domain Bank Balance Sheet and P&L / Commercial
Banking products/ Analysis of Financial Statements.
Candidate must display strong analytical skills and be responsible, methodical and organized
with an ability to perform to high level of accuracy and have good attention to detail.
Should be of autonomous bent and a self-learner, assertive and able to make expert decisions
based on personal judgment.
Excellent communication (oral & written) and interpersonal skills.
Working in a dynamic, fast paced environment under time-sensitive deadlines.
Working well independently with minimal supervision while also functioning as an integral part of
a team.

Preferred Experience / Knowledge :

Experience with Regulatory Reporting software, Financial Data Warehouse with understanding of
Relational databases (Oracle/SQL) in a Production/ Product development environment.
Experience in regulatory reporting for APAC/US/Canada jurisdiction
Knowledge of Financial Instruments Derivatives/ CDOs etc. & Prudential Regulations Basel
II/Basel III/ Dodd-Frank/FATCA/ LCR/NSFR etc.
Experience in working with Business Requirements and detailing them into system/product level
functional specifications.
Experience of working with issue and project tracking software such as JIRA etc. and developer
tools such as SVN/Microsoft Visual Studio TFS etc.
Working with off-shore teams (APAC/US/Canada).
Team handling skills overseeing work of junior/peers.

Knowledge of Tools/ Software:


Minimum:

Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook),

Preferred:

PL/SQL developer,
Synchronizer/WinMerge/Beyond Compare etc.

Certifications
Preferred:

Certified Scrum Master (CSM)/ Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent certification in
Scrum Framework
