SIGNAL & SYSTEMS

Exercise Sheet
Note: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. It is highly recommended that you all go through Solved/Unsolved/Advance problem set of
Chapter-1 and Chapter-3 from Oppenheims Signal and System book.
2. This assignment is for practice purpose, Need not to submit.
1. Signals_____________________________________
1. Show That :
(a) If x(t) and x[n] is even then

a
a
x(t)dt 2 x(t)dt
a
0
and

k k

x[n] x[0] 2 x[n]

n -k n 0

(b) If x(t) and x[n] is odd then

x(0) 0 and x[0] 0

a k

a
x(t)dt 0 and x[n] 0
n -k

(c) If x(t) is given in figure 1(a) then x(t-1) is one which is given in figure 1(b) and similar for x(2t), which is given in
figure 1(c).

2. Derive the condition for e j0 n to be a periodic and explain the interpretation that why e jt is periodic always
but e j0 nis not always periodic?

3. Prove that
