INTRODUCTION:

A rocket motor is a type of jet engine that uses only stored rocket propellant
mass for forming its high speed propulsive jet. Rocket engines are reaction engines,
obtaining thrust in accordance with Newton's third law. Most rocket engines are
internal combustion engines, although non-combusting forms (such as cold gas
thrusters) also exist. Vehicles propelled by rocket engines are commonly called
rockets. Since they need no external material to form their jet, rocket engines can
perform in a vacuum and thus can be used to propel spacecraft and ballistic missiles.
In this project, we are trying to determine the strength based on their age. If the age of
propeller is too old, it will cause the reducing in strength of the propeller.

Moreover, this project will use the data collected to form the two graph that
we have learn which are ANOVA and regression. This project also uses scattered to
obtain and know what information and answer the question in the discussion later.
ANOVA-is a hypothesis-testing technique used to test the equality of three or more
population means by examining the variances of samples that are taken. ANOVA
allows one to determine whether the differences between the samples are simply due
to random error (sampling errors) or whether there are systematic treatment effects
that cause the mean in one group to differ from the mean in another. Meanwhile, a
regression model is a mathematical equation that describes the relationship between
two or more variables. A simple linear model includes only two variables which are
independent variable, also called an explanatory variable or predictor variable (X) and
dependent variable, also called response variable. (Y). Hence, it also a statistical
method used to describe the nature of the relationship between variables, that is,
positive or negative, linear or nonlinear.

There are several objectives that could be applied in this project which are to
determine the function of each graph and diagram, to differentiate between the
diagram or graph by ANOVA, Scattered and Regression and to implement on how to
plot the data by using software which is MiniTab17.
DISCUSSION:

1) A rocket motor is manufactured by bonding together two types of propellants,

an igniter and a sustainer. The shear strenght of the age of the propellant and motor
cast. 20 observations are shown in the table below.
2) Scatter plot for the test is like below:
3) Linear regression line and equation of the data:

The regression equation is Strength= 18090 254.5 Age .

The slope for this graph b = - 254.5.
4) Regression equation and the P value for this test .

H0 : B = 0
H1 : B 0
The value of B is equal to - 254.5 therefore we rejects H0 because B is not zero.
If the T-Value (constant) > T-Value (age), therefore we reject H0.
The p value is <0.0001.
5) The coefficient of determination of the data and provide an interpretation of
R2. The null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis for the above model.

H0 : B = 0
H1 : B 0
The value of B is equal to - 4.286 therefore we rejects H0 because B is not zero.

Coefficient
R = 89.69%

6) Analysis of variance Anova the SSE and SSR. The degree of freedoms (df) for
denominator and nominator.

SSR

SSE

k=2 N = 20
k-1 (N - k) = 20 - 2
d.f.N (numerator) = 1 d.f.D (denominator) = 18

7) The assumptions of a simple linear regression model.

If the normally assumptions are valid, the plot should resemble a straight line,
sloping upward to the right. If not, you would often to see pattern fail in the
tails of the graph.
8) Graph:-
a. The residuals from this model versus fitted value.

If equal variance assumption is valid, the plot should appear as a random

scatter around the zero center line. If all assumptions have been met, these
residuals should be normal, with mean 0 and variance. If the assumptions hold
true, the residuals should be structures less, and should not from a funnel like
structure.

b. The residuals versus the variable.

c. Normal probability plot for the residuals.

9) The correlation coefficient (Pearson coefficient), r, and the strength of

between x and y and its direction and comment on the p-value.

If x and y have a strong negative linear correlation, r is close to -1. An r value of

exactly -1 indicates a perfect negative fit. Negative values indicate a relationship
between x and y such that as values for x increase, values for y decrease.
10) The prediction value of y using and x value within the given data range and
value 0 .05. The confidence limits and prediction limits on the mean of your data set.

Equation = 86.36 - 4.286 Ball

Confident limit = 95%
Prediction limit = 95%

CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, all graph and diagram that have been shown in the discussion
part has give many advantages of each of the method use. There are several benefits
of using anova which are when have only two samples, t-test and Anova give the
same results, but using t-test would not be reliable in several cases, however, Anova is
the most effective to compare the mean. Besides, it also can be used effectively even
when the number of observation is different in each group. In this project, Anova can
help us to know various strength if the age also changes. Furthermore, there also some
disadvantages of regression which are it only looks at the linear relationships, only
looks at the mean of the dependent variable and the data must be independent.

In this project, we have learnt many things on how to use the Minitab17. We
can analyse the data by using this software to save time and produce more solutions. It
also free-download from the internet and the tools also easy to understand the
function of each the tools. Minitab has many advantages for statistics, for example it
saves time when you are interested in making basic descriptive statistics for a large
size sample, conducting hypotheses testing, writing a statistical report and scanning
given data. Hence, on how we know that propeller has its on strength based on their
age. If the age is going increase so it will cause the propeller going down on its
strength.
