Dear Madam or Sir,

I have worked with Angela Withee since August 2016. I was her course instructor in two English education
classes in the fall of 2016, and I observed her teaching on numerous occasions as her university supervisor. I
am excited about Ms. Withees potential to be both an impactful English educator and an outstanding
colleague in the school fortunate enough to hire her; without reservation, I recommend her for a position as a
secondary English language arts teacher.

Ms. Withee demonstrated her commitment to students and her profession repeatedly as a student teacher.
Earlier than expected due to cooperating teacher absences, Ms. Withee was responsible for teaching three
different courses in her high school placement. Angela demonstrated exceptional professionalism and work
ethic in preparing to teach each course, one of which was working with a novel she had not previously read.
Largely on her own, Ms. Withee thoughtfully constructed lesson plans that engaged and challenged students
in ways that incorporated the texts into larger questions of humanity and critical thinking.

When I observed Angelas teaching, I was consistently impressed by her ability to plan and implement lessons
that invited students to closely read complex texts and scaffolded their interactions with text and each other
that helped them produce sophisticated and nuanced interpretations. Every lesson was grounded in state
standards and helped students build valuable skills and knowledge. In conference with Ms. Withees
cooperating teacher, she shared quite positive evaluations of Angelas overall working describing her as a
natural in the classroom who made great efforts to get to know students and strive to meet their learning
needs.

Because she is a determined professional, committed educator, and conscientious leader of adolescents, I
offer my recommendation on behalf of Angela Withee. I know you will find her to be a valuable addition to
your English department and school community.

If I can provide any additional information on Ms. Withees behalf, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

F. Blake Tenore
Angela Withee

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is a recommendation for Miss Angela Withee for the position for which
she has applied in your school district.

Ms. Withee was a student intern in my classroom spring 2017. As such, she
demonstrated a dedication to teaching her students and a broad knowledge of
the subject areas that reflected in her teaching, her planning, and her using data
to drive instruction. Additionally, she had command of the classroom and worked
tirelessly to design engaging and informative assignments.

The classes she taught included Intensive Reading for High School Seniors,
African American Literature for Juniors and Seniors, and English Honors I.
These courses span the gamut of academic rigor, student abilities and skill sets,
student motivations, and student work ethics. Miss Withee seamlessly
transitioned between these courses and provided the appropriate instruction
based on the needs and standards for each class.

It is with pleasure I recommend Miss Withee for the position to which she has
applied. If I can provide additional information, please contact me.

Sincerely,
Vikki Shackelford, M.S.
