(with number) Students will map the original Thirteen Colonies and evaluate the importance of location to their
development by utilizing one of the big eleven social studies skills.

Introduction: (5-7mins) Greet students at the door, they are given the 13 Colonies Label Me
(Entrance/Board work) Handout and given instruction to take notes while watching the Youtube
video. (NEPF 1, Learning Purpose and Connection)
Family Feud for extra credit. (NEPF 3, Engagement)

Daily Objective:(20mins) Students will be able the name and map the origins thirteen colonies and the
importance of their location and understand the beginning of the United
States compared to it today. (NEPF 1, Learning Purpose and Connections)
Student will collaborate to prepare a presentation to present learned content
about the colonies in their region (NEPF 3, Engagement)

Concept and Skill Development and Student will watch Youtube video to learn about the thirteen original colonies
Application:(15 mins) of the United States. (1, Learning Purposes and Connections)
Students will complete Label Me worksheet and share facts about their
assigned colonies and the importance of their locations.

Guided Practice (Teacher led): (15 Teacher will give a colonial fact and a color, Student will color the colony

Homework Assignments: Student will complete assigned reading: The 13 Colonies: A New Life in a

Student will complete 13 colonies map worksheet. (NEPF 1, Learning

Closure: (20mins) What are the Original thirteen colonies? What Did we learn about the
importance of their locations. (NEPF 4, Students Understanding of and
Responsibility of Learning, NEPF 5, Assessment Integrated Into Instruction)
Student will share a Picktochart presentation to share knowledge and
understanding of their region (NEPF 3, Engagement)
