COMMUNITY PROBLEM REPORT FINAL

Introduction

There are issues that people acknowledge and even consider but there are also many

problems that people ignore and are not truly aware of. One of these key issues in our

community is the belief in religion. Religion has been around for hundreds if not thousands of

years and throughout this time its main purpose has been to serve as an answer key to many of

lifes difficulties and questions. Although, what many believers dont know is the overall

negative impact religion is having upon humanity. Therefore, this report will discuss reasons

why religion is illogical to believe in, how religion is causing harm to human health, and

practical solutions to this situation.

Illogical Religion

To begin, lets look at the bible for reference. The bible is an ancient book that is

comprised of stories and scriptures of supposed truths. Although, sometimes the stories in the

bible leave many people in shock and ends up with them asking more questions. For example,

not many people have read the bible. They usually just flip around pages or just read what the

priest instructs them to. But when you thoroughly read the bible you come across rather strange

details not many believers know such as believing that there was earthquakes and zombies

during Jesus crucifixion (Matthew 27:50-53). Also, in one story God himself sent two bears to

maul forty-two children to death for calling a man bald (2 Kings 2:23-24).

Furthermore, God to many people in the past and present day has been the gap filler to

many of humanities tough questions that science has not had the answer to. For example, many

people used to conduct human sacrifices to feed the gods and they thought this would stop

drought. Also, in ancient Greek mythology people didnt scientifically know where lightning,

fire, and water came from so they named gods after them and worshiped them. Next, there are

catholic people who believe that people are sometimes infested with a devil and this explains

exorcisms, but people are just having epileptic seizures.

Next, it is not logical to believe in religion when religion is inhumane. For example, pain

and suffering is all over the world in the form of starvation, violence, and hate which makes little

sense if God is all loving and cares about every individual. Some babies dont even get to see the

light of day because they die during birth so why would God create beings that are not perfect?...

even though we were made perfect in his vision according to the bible.

Additionally, religion induces people with fear and anxiety. For example, the bible states

that people must not break any of the ten commandments or theyll be sentenced to eternity in

hell. The sheer power that parents have by scaring this concept into their kids is overwhelming. It

causes kids to grow up in fear that can cause mental harm and in some cases physical harm.

Also, how would a person be able to live in heaven knowing that he or she has a loved one that is

being tortured for eternity in hell.

The last point and the most important is that there is no straightforward evidence for God

existing. Science has disproven or at least has religion against the ropes because if there was

sufficient evidence for a God existing then we would all be on the same page but that is not the

case. Instead there are millions of people around the world whose main reason for believing in a

god is because it is all they grew up knowing. Many if not all religious people were taught

religion at a very young age which doesnt supply them with a real choice of what to think is

right since childrens brains are less developed. Therefore, without deducing real and logical

observations, kids shouldnt be forced to believe something as controversial was religion.

Religion and its health concerns

When people think of religion they usually picture harmonious people that are prospering

amongst each other and they think of these interactions as guidance for relieving stress or anxiety

in life. Yet, what many people dont realize is that religion causes the exact opposite reactions in

peoples brains.

To begin, when all animals are born in the world the first thing they see is their parents

and from this point on they grow one if not the strongest bond that theyll ever have. This also

applies to humans in the very same way because kids grow up around their parents and absorb

everything their parents have to offer. From the way they speak, behave, and who they will

eventually become but what they absorb the most is the beliefs their parents have. These beliefs

are what children perceive to be righteous, but these beliefs are not totally healthy. For many

people religion has been a big part of their childhood. Christianity for example, teaches kids

about hell and eternal damnation as an effect of sinning. This causes emotional stress which can

lead to extreme forms of anxiety. This anxiety teaches that the only point of view that is right is

specific to that religion which is detrimental because it limits peoples potential to grow and

understand other points of views.

Solutions

Practical solutions to this may include not allowing parents to force their kids to believe

in one religion and instead expand their views. Such as teaching them about many religions and

instead impose a more atheistic point of view. This will teach kids to instead look at all angles

and look for good and bad in everything which will make a more open-minded society for

generations to come.
