In the name of Allah, the Most gracious, the Ever Merciful.

Honorable chairperson, respected members of the jury and gentlemen of the audience. My speech this
afternoon is titled, education is the last resort for betterment.

Respected audience, this statement may appear as callous and crude to many, but in todays world, it is
a reality. Last resort means a final course of action, used only when all else has failed. So in essence, this
statement says that education is used to better someone only when all else has failed. We turn to
education only when all avenues have failed to better us. If we look at the history of mankind, we will
find that this true indeed. There are not many people who wanted to take the path of education form
the start, rather the history of

T his world is replete with occurrences and instances, anecdotes and fables, where young and ambitious
men tried their hand and their luck at a verity of things, but when all other avenues of betterment failed,
they went the route of education. This does not means that education do4es not work in betterment of
am person, rather it means that we only go for education when all else has failed, when we have tried
every single way and every single avenue, but they have all led us nowhere, thena and only then do we
turn to education.

Gentlen, we live in a hig adrenaline, high octane world that progresses rapidly. This means that
education suualy takes a back seat to skills and technique. For example a person who has a college
degree in computer coding will be neglected in interviews and the person who has actual experience of
coding projects will be picked over him. This is because education is the last resot of betterment, the
first thing that we usually look for when trying to ebtetr ourselves is a skill set which is unique to our
niche and our field. So a person who can type really well, will try to make sure that his typing speed is up
to the mark instead of enrolling himself in a plethora of institutes and then p[aying their dues form his
already meager income.

Truth be told, education in institutions is these days left for those who can waste more than five eyars of
their lives studying the same subject. People would rather develop their skills. Another drawback is that
when we are going through the motions in institutes and in various colleges and schools, the real world
is chanign around us. So when we leave these isntitues with our shiny degree, we are perturbed to find
that what we learned in the educational institute is no longer elevant.
