The Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) has been a resounding
success since its launch in March 2010. Inspired by the first two
KLFs (2010 and 2011), the Childrens Literature Festival (CLF) was AUTHORS/MODERATORS/SPEAKERS
launched at the end of 2011. The momentum begun in Pakistan Aaron Mulvany Azra Abbas Hashim Raza
with the KLF led not only to the CLF but also to the Islamabad Aasim Sajjad Akhtar Babar Ayaz Hina Rabbani Khar
Literature Festival (ILF) launched in 2013, the Teachers Literature Adeela Suleman Baela Raza Jamil Hoori Noorani
Festival (TLF) launched in 2014, and many others in Pakistan. Afzaal Ahmad Barbara D. Metcalf Imdad Hussaini
This momentum reflects the depth of our historical literary and Afzal Ahmed Syed Barbara Toye-Welsh Imran Qureshi

The KLF and ILF are directed by Ameena Saiyid, founded by Ajmal Siraj Bilal Hamid Ishrat Husain
Ameena Saiyid and Asif Farrukhi, and produced by Oxford Ali Akbar Natiq Bina Sarkar Jamsheed Marker
University Press. The first of a kind in Pakistan, they are open Ali Habib Bina Shah Javaid Ahmed

KLF attendance has grown exponentially: 5,000 in 2010; 10,000 in 2011; 15,000 in 2012; 50,000 in Amar Naseer Deborah Robinson Kausar S. Khan
2013; 70,000 in 2014; and 125,000 last year. In 2010, there were 35 speakers/performers, 104 in 2011; Amar Pirzada Ehsan Masood Khawar Mumtaz
