What is the DISC model?

DISC is a human behavior model originally presented by Dr. William Marston in 1928.
There are two key motivators that tend to drive behaviors such as Motor drive (also called
Pace drive) and Compass Drive (also called Priority Drive).
About Motor drive: Divide a circle in half horizontally.
The upper half represents outgoing or fast-paced people. The lower half represents
reserved or slower-paced people. Outgoing people tend to move fast, talk fast, and
decide fast. Reserved people tend to speak more slowly and softly than outgoing
people, and they generally prefer to consider things carefully and thoroughly before
making a decision.
About Compass Drive: The circle can also be divided vertically
The left half represents task-oriented people. The right half represents people-
oriented people. Task-oriented people tend to focus on logic, data, results and
projects. People-oriented people tend to focus on experiences, feelings,
relationships, and interactions with other people.
Slide 4:
Combine the drawings for the Motor and Compass drives, you get the circle of normal
behaviors. There are Four Basic DISC Styles or Types.

as the representative word for that type or style of behavior include: Dominant, Inspiring,
Supportive, Cautious.

lead than follow. strength, ability to speculate, assert, start, resolute, competitive, straight-

Loss of security is greatest fear of this S type.

3. Problems and Solutions

Once time, there is a new feature in my test case that I didnt know.
- Since I am a fresh graduate, I have no work experience so I can not control the
change in the system structure of the core system. Lack test case, not covered of
influence of new features
- In addition, because of I shy and passive in work, I do not discuss with developer,
leader and team members, not tell them the problems which occurs in the system.
- Result: When sending the product to the customer, there is an error. The system can
not be built and receive a letter of complaint from the customer.
