Jeffrey, S. (2015) Faith vs. Fact: why religion and science are mutually

compatible. Retrieved from https://www.washingtonpost.com/full/url

News article from the Washington Post that talks about the differences

and similarities between faith and facts. It mostly uses Jerry A. Coynes

new book Faith vs. Fact as its primary argument against the idea of

science and religion cooperating. I want to use this as a counter

argument for my idea. I want to provide both aspects of the side, not just

one. So the reader can have a better understanding of what theyre

reading. The article goes on to say that only idiot idealist believe that

they can benefit off one another. Science proves religion wrong time

and time again.

Michel, M (2010) Scholar says Religion and Science Can Co-Exist. Retrieved

An NPR news radio broadcast who brings on award winning Professor

Francisco Ayala to discuss his view on science vs religion. He says not only

can they co-exist, but they have no way to contradict one another. He

claims that religion tells us why and science tells us how. He also goes on

to say that the bible is in no way shape or form a scientific book. It is a

book of values and ideas, something to believe in. the bible does not tell

us how heaven was made, but it tells us the path we must follow to get

there.

Jack, J (2014) Neil DeGrasse Tyson Shows us that Science and Religion Can Co-

Exist in Cosmos. Retrieved from http://thinkprocess.org

An article discussing the reboot of the hit tv show, Cosmos. Hosted by

Neil Degrasse Tyson, this article claims that the show supports the idea of

religion and science co-existing. On the season opener the show starts by

talking about a man named Giordano Bruno. This man was the first to

come up with the idea that there may be more than one sun in the

universe, in fact he went as far as saying there may be more solar systems

other than the one that we are currently residing on. Of course he was

ostracized for his beliefs by the church and eventually burnt alive but his

ideas and theology work well with scientific belief. I think i can use him as

a great example for the type of person that also believes in my idea.

Giordano Bruno (2017) In Encyclopedia Britannica. Retrieved from

https://www.Britannica.com/full/url
This encyclopedia entry goes over the life of 15th century writer and

theologist Giordano Bruno. Was a fantastic writer and teacher, traveled

across all of Europe teaching and expanding his knowledge. Throughout

his years he was ridiculed and often ran out of cities for his beliefs. This is

because his ideas went against the church. Even though he himself was

a priest and by no means a scientist. He just had a more progressive way

of thinking. A way of thinking that lines up with my idea of religion and

science co-existing. I would also like to use his life as an example of why

they also cannot work together peacefully. His views of explaining the

world through logic and reasoning while still listening and worshiping the

word of god is the ideal person for my side. But there will always be

people on the opposite side of your case. Bruno was burnt alive at the

stake simply because his views were not that of the church. And they did

this type of thing all the time. So this is a big reason as to why the whole

peaceful partnership might not work out.

Jamison, N. (2017) Where does your Faith LIe? Retrieved from

https://docs.google.com/full/url

This is a survey that i conducted to see if people around the Piketon area

believed in science or religion. First the survey asked two questions that i

thought would let me get an initial guess on what the populus believed

in. the first was are you superstitious, and my guess was that if someone

was superstitious they would also be religious. My second question was

do you believe in fate. And, as before, if they believed in fate it was safe

to assume that they were religious. And my hypothesis was correct. Over

half of the responders said that they are superstitious and believed in

fate. And a little under half said that they were religious. About 40

percent of people believed in science and i also included an other

option. And some people surprised me. 5 people, out of the 62

participants, responded with they believe in both science and religion.

This shows me that there is a chance, that there is hope that one day

science and religion can support and help one another.

Make sure you organize citations in alphabetical order. Also, you only have one
source from a peer-reviewed journal. You should have two. Your annotations
are clear and thoroughly explain each source, how it's credible, and how you
plan to use it.
