Selection Process: Yes, these are the same two essays as I showed for Standard 1.

I used my
legit research essay for Standard 7 so I want to shake it up. This freshman piece is somewhat
research oriented as we derived our claims for a multitude of sources (film, novel, articles, and a
TedTalk).

Growth: Both essays demonstrate my capability to utilize both print and digital texts as well as
media sources in the freshman piece. Furthermore, both works have the sources seamlessly
integrated into the essay, if we disregard the fact that commentary is rare in my freshman essay.
However, the biggest problem that was fixed over the past few years are citations. Following a
direct quote from A Long Way Gone, I would place a comma before the second quote and
parenthetical citation. This mistake is gone expect for some period discrepancies in my senior
essay. Additionally, my freshman essay does not prove the sources credibility before utilizing
them. From the get-go, I stated From Blood Diamonds, instead of introducing the film and its
credibility. Although not perfect, my senior essay does assert that the authors of my sources were
renowned professors, authors, etc.

Concluding Statement: If we are only talking about including sources in a logical way, I have
been able to do that since freshman year (again, if we ignore the lack of commentary). The use of
year of publication and random commas have been unlearned. Giving credibility has been
learned.
