Course Description
This class covers a wide variety of physics topics including motion, thermodynamics, electricity,
magnetism, optics, and nuclear science. It is an engaging course that includes many laboratory
components and hands-on activities.

Course Policies
Classroom expectations are: 1) Punctual: Be in your seat before the bell rings. 2) Properly dressed: Be
in dress code all day. 3) Productive: Be ready to work every day. 4) Polite: Be respectful to everyone
in the room. Classroom consequences are: 1) Verbal warning; 2) Parent contact; 3) Lunch Detention;
4) Teacher Detention; 5) Referral to administration. Teacher detentions will be served after school
from 2:20 2:50. Students that are continually disruptive will be immediately referred to
administration.

Students are expected to bring a pencil, notebook paper, and a 1-inch three-ring binder to class every
day. Students will also be required to bring a spiral or composition notebook that will be kept in the
classroom for daily bell ringers. The binder is used for notes and returned assignments and students
must keep up with it for the entire semester. Assignments, projects, and homework will be kept in the
binder for a grade. This is a fantastic way for parents to see assignments to keep up with grades.

*Please note that most assignments may be turned in late at any time for 70% credit.
** Make-up work for unexcused absences will receive 90% credit.
Assessments and Grading
Multiple choice assessments are used because this format is used on many state end-of-course tests.
However, quizzes and exit slips in short answer and essay format will also be used frequently.

Grades will be calculated as shown below:

9-weeks grade: 50%: Classwork and projects
50%: Tests
Semester grade: 80%: Two 9-weeks grades (40% each)
20%: Exam
