Northern Mindanao. Many individuals were affected by this climatic condition specifically in the
community near the Tagoloan River. In Zone 5 Barangay Santa Cruz, it was notice that the flood
started as the water of the river start to rise around 3 am last January 19 2017. It is said that the
named location was the proposed dike embankment at stage 1 project. From the collected data
by barangay officials as of 9:30 am at the same date, it was around 31 houses was affected by
flood with 120 individuals. All are evacuated in high elevated areas.
The monitoring team focus on the change of water level of Tagoloan River. Table 1 shows
the different water level of river at a specified time allocated by the monitoring team with the
aid of water monitoring gauge that was already installed near drainage sluiceway 3 before flood.
Measuring of water level was base at the tip of the river at normal condition.

Alongside also at Tagoloan River was Zone 9 Barangay Santa Cruz. The residence here was
not affected by the flood due to the protection of the existing dike embankment. But the stage 2
project, currently working for the installation of steel sheet piling at station 1+912 to station
1+800, was interrupted as the river overflowed at the said station.
Giving the conclusion connected to the flood risk management project, there is no
adverse effect cause by the flood as there is no damage to the materials and equipment that was
used in the project.
