Quality and Manufacturing LVN eene2ee0ae Bean Page 3 of 7 Se DMRC Electrical Standards & Design Wing DMES-E/0004 ‘Specifications For Supply, Installation, Testing & Commissioning of Fire Hydrant System 1. ail ‘iption and Aj MRC cay The scope of work shall cover supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the sprinkler system. 1.2 The contractor shall get the Sprinkler System approved by the Authority having Jurisdiction 2 Governing Specifications 24 ‘The sprinkler system shall conform to end meet with the requirements set out by the folowing NBC Part-IV 2005 National Building code: Part IV Fire Protection 1S: 9972-2002 Specification for Automatic Sprinkler Heads for Fire Protection Service. IS: 18105- 2002 Code of practice for design and installation of fixed ‘automatic sprinkler fre extinguishing systems. Compliance with the local fire brigade and the fire enforcing authorities. 3. Functional Requirements 3.1 Sprinklers 3.4.1. Sprinklers shall be provided internally in the commercial area depending on the fioor area as shown on the drawings, 3.2 Pendant type Sprinkler Head 32.1 Sprinkler heads shall be of quartzoid bulb type with valve assembly, yoxe and the deflector 32.2 The bulb shall be made of corrosion free material strong enough to withstand any water Page 4 0f7 DMRC Electrical Standards & Design Wing DMES-£10004 Specifications For Supply, installation, Testing & Commissioning of Fire Hydrant System ae pressure likely to occur in the system, The bulb shall shatter when the temperature of the ‘surrounding air reaches at 68°C/79°C. 3.23 The sprinkler shall be of approved make and type with 15mm nominal diameter outlets ‘and colour of liquid shall be Red/Yellow. 3.2.4 The sprinkler head shall be approved by ULIFM. 3.3 Upright type Sprinkler head 3.3.1 Upright sprinkler heads shall be similar to Pendent type in material construction and performance but designed to throw water droplets upwards in umbrella fashion, to cool the underside of ceiling end extinguish any fire involving combustibles on the floor below. 3.3.2 The sprinkler head shall be approved by UL/FM. The nominal bore shall be 15mm the co lour of the liquid shall be red. 3.4 Installation Control Valve for Sprinkler 3.4.1 The installation control vaive shall be double-seated clapper type check valve. The body and cover shall be made from cast iron to IS: 210 Grade FG 200. The seat and seat clamp shal be made from bronze to IS: 318, LTB II grade. The sealing to the seat shall be neoprene gasket. The hinges pin and ball shell be from stainless stool, 3.4.2 It shall be vertically mounted and the direction of water travel shall be indicated on the surface. It shall be rated to 12 Kg / cm* and tested to 25 Kg / em? pressure, 3.43. A Bye-pass check valve shall be fitted to adjust minor and slow variations in water pressure for balancing so as to avoid any false alarm 3.44 The valve shall also be provided with a Test Control Box. The Box shall house a lever to test and operate the ICV. A brass strainer shall also be provided at the point of water supply to the alarm gong. A Retarding Chamber shall also be provided. The Chamber shail be able to balance the water pressure in case of water line surges. 3.45 Each installation control valve shall have two sets of Pressure Gauges with brass ball type Page 5 of 7 8 DMRC Electrical Standards & Design Wing DMES-E/0004 ‘Specifications For Supply, Installation, Testing & Commissioning of Fire Hydrant System shut off, 3.4.6 Water Motor Alarm shall also be provided. This shall be mechanically operated by discharge of water through an impeller. The drive besring shall be weather resistant. A strainer shall be provided on line before the nozzie. The Gong piece shall be constructed from bronze to |S: 318, 2TB Il Grade and base of cast iron. The Motor Housing, rotor and Housing cover shall be pressure die cast aluminum: 3.5 Flow Switch 351 352 Sener Flow switch shall have a paddle made of flexible material of the wicth to fit within the pipe bore. The terminal box shall be mounted over the paddle / pipe through a connecting socket. The switch shall be potential free in either NO or NC position as required. The switch shall be able to inp and make /oreak contact on the operation of @ single sprinkler head. The terminal box shall have connections for wiring to the Annunciation Panel. The seat shall be of stainless steel. The Flow switch shall have IP: 55 protection The Flow switch shall work at a minimum flow rate of 100 LPS. Maintenance and Life: N.A Material and manufacturing Quality Assurance and Controls; The Contractors Management Systems shall emphasize quality assurance and controls. The programme shall be adequate to ensure an acceptable level of quality of the equipment supplied. The concept of total quality assurance shall be based on the principle that quality is a basic responsibility of the Contractor's organization, and shall be visible by, 1. Firm procurement and job performance specifications, 2, Firm procedures for transmission of information and data to their Subcontractors and ‘ensuring their compliance. These records shall inciude results of inspections, tests, process controls, cettification of processes and personnel, discrepant matenal. and other quality control requirements. 6. Compiaint Handling and commitment towards customer satisfaction Testing The Sprinkler pump starting and stopping shall be tested by opening the test valve, Al the operating tests shall be carried out to the satisfaction of Engineer-in-Charge. Training The contractor shall ensure training of DMRC staff as decided by DMRC at DMRC workplace or at his workplace as considered necessary. (On completion of installation, the manufacturer shall supply two sets of well bound handing over manuals duly approved by Consultants/Engineer-in-charge. Each set shall include: + As Built Drawings. + Do's and Don'ts for the maintenance and operating staff. + Working details of Sprinkler Systern. * Operating manual. + Extracts of the warrant/DLP. + Datails of service center. + List of staff trained on the said design of the Sprinkler System. «The first page of the booklet shall be signed by the manufacture, contractor and DMRC Engineer. © — Soft copy of the entire documents, Page 7 of 7
